Yeah. I'll take Engelland. At this point, I'm fine with him being able to step in and provide a physical presence. I feel more comfortable selected him knowing what I'm going to get from him. He's a 6/7 guy, nothing wrong with that.

I pretty much sleep when you guys sleep, only I'm six hours ahead of you. Nite owl, I guess. Funny that you ask at 2:30, which is still early for me.

Blair Chapman, RW

Image

Taken 2nd overall by the Pens in 76, had a promising start to his NHL career, but ultimately failed to meet expectations. Welp, maybe I can get some decent games out of him. 48 + 51 in 227 GP, including a 24 goal campaign in 77-78.

I like to assume Gaucho speaks Latin and is actually a left-over from the Roman Empire.

I think I had Latin for about 8 years.

I select noted goal-scorer, Chuck Arnason, RW - he'll be a boost to the offense, should I ever use him in the lineup, and the power play.

His stats seemed elite among guys that were left. My other two choices were both Generation X-ers...

I think I have, what, 2 guys that have played for the Pens in the last 10 years?

Arnason was apparently lazy as hell, but you can't expect to find any gems at this point.

I have 3 players from the last ten years.

Yeah, Arnason isn't remembered too highly, that's why he was available now. He's my 15th forward, what can you do...

That's good, I thought - without looking - I might have a lot less than anyone else...I could have added one right here, but Arnason's best year was pretty much better than both of their careers...

Don't mind me, just posting profiles as I finish them as it's about that time...hopefully I see some for the other picks too...

Kristopher Letang

Image

Position: Defense
6'0 / 201 lbs.
Shoots: Right
As a Penguin: 2006-2012 (350 GP - 39 goals, 132 assists, 171 points; Playoffs: 65 GP - 10 goals, 21 assists, 31 points)
- 9th among Pens D in career GP, 7th in goals, 6th in assists, 6th in points

- Stanley Cup Champion 2009
- Stanley Cup Finalist 2008
---

League Recognition / Award Voting

Hart: t-17th*
Norris: 6th, 9th^
All-Star Team (D): 6th, 9th^

* - one vote
^ - missed 31 games

2x NHL All-Star: 2011, 2012
---

- From 2010-11 through 2011-12, Letang is 4th in assists and 10th in points among all league d-men. He's also 5th in plus/minus by the same metrics. He ranks 2nd in assists/per game and 3rd in points/per game by the same metrics. (Min. 80 games.)

- Letang finished 4th in goals per game, 2nd in assists per game, 2nd in points per game among all league defensemen in 2011-12. Finishing behind an anomalistically high scoring Norris winner in Erik Karlsson (who outscored his peers by 47.2%!)

---
Scoring vs. teammates:
2008-09 (74 GP): Led team d-men in points by 65%; 10th overall
2009-10 (73 GP): 3rd among team d-men in points
2010-11 (82 GP): Led team d-men in points by 108.3%; 2nd overall (Crosby)
2011-12 (51 GP): Led team d-men in points by 55.6%; 7th overall

---
Ice Time Among Pens D-men (min. 40 games):
2007-08: #6 at ES, #6 in ATOI
2008-09: #2 at ES, #1 in ATOI
2009-10: #1 at ES, #2 in ATOI
2010-11: #2 at ES (by 7 seconds), #1 in ATOI
2011-12: #2 at ES (by 4 seconds), #1 in ATOI

---

I don't think we really need a lot of quotes about Letang, we know his game. Terrific skating defenseman with a big shot. Smooth passer who is excellent in transition. Can play in any situation and logs a lot of minutes. Handles himself well physically and competes all over the ice. What he lacks in positioning, he makes up for with his recovery ability - the latter ranks among men the best in hockey.

One of the league's premier defensemen for the last two seasons.
