The Rangers look a lot like a one line team.

Good Defense and a great goalie is what makes them tough. Pens top two lines should be able to outscore their top line. Pens third line might even out score the Rangers second line. Heck, Dupuis had more points than anyone on the Rangers second line and he played the majority of last season without Crosby. Cooke had more goals than everyone on the Rangers except Nash, Richards, Gaborik, and Callahan. Offensively the Pens look to be the vastly superior team on paper.

Question is are the Rangers good enough defensively and in net to make up that difference. I guess we'll find out. I know going into the playoffs last year the Rangers (their fans anyway) wanted no part of the Penguins.

The Pens are definitely contenders, top 8 for sure. Anything more than that is all hype, though. I don't really think that there is a whole lot that separates the top tier teams, especially in the east.

Regardless of what happened last season, when you have two potential 50 goal scorers, a 40 goal scorer, numerous 20 goal scorers, and one of the top Dmen and goalies in the league, you are going to be favored in almost every matchup.

I hate that we lost Staal but I like the addition of Vokoun - if he is a strong backup this year we're a better team.
