TK is a shooter on a line with two guys who already shoot a lot.
Beau Bennett is creative, and although everyone spoke about his shot, he has 17 assists, leading the baby pens. He is also a right handed shot, which could replace Sully a little on the PP. I know its very doubtful he makes the team, but keeping to the thread topic, I do hope we get to see him.

It goes even deeper than that, but you've identified a crucial difference: The ability to think on a higher level offensively. Crosby and Malkin need someone that can grow with them mentally more than anything. It's not a big surprise that James Neal had that offensive explosion that we think we'd see with every winger that's ever been here. But we've acquired a lot of static producers over the years and the results have been iffy. Someone that creates with Crosby would be invaluable to the growth of both players. Let's hope Bennett is that or we can find someone like that.

Ugh, you had to bring me down didn't you?
Just when I was going to post something about lacking some edge, you had to go and remind me about what our blueline is going to look like

I'm a big Vokoun fan so I can't wait to see his first start. I'll be getting a Vokoun pens jersey no matter his performance

-Defensive prospects. It's fun when a rookie comes in and makes an impact. I have high hopes someone might be able to this year.
-Geno and Sid. Both playing from the start. Mail the Art Ross to Shero, he can hold onto it while they figure out who wins it!

I'm just happy to see them play, to be honest. Any year with Sid and Geno not playing in their prime is a waste.

-Martin, Tangradi, MAF, TK and HCDB proving the haters wrong (the team would benefit greatly from en masse LGP crow eating - I have a spoon ready!)
-Sutter's first goal as a Pen
-Redemption over Philthy (by this I mean playoff victory, not WWE antics)

What I'm excited to see?
Crosby. Having more time to get past the concussion problems and back into game shape. Excited to see if he will continue on the path of assaulting the league as he was before Steckel maliciously put a detour to it.
You try to appreciate it as much as possible, since another Steckel could be right around the corner. We are spoiled fans here in Pittsburgh having 3 or 4 of the top 10 players of all time to watch over these last 25 years.

A new system.
Based on what WB/S is doing, less dump and chase. More fluid, dynamic passing. Less bad turnovers. Less grinding in the boards.
Defensively, a very penalty kill-esque approach, in the sense that you have an intense 5-7 seconds of pressure before the team reverts into their coverage down low.

Jesse, I'd be interested to hear more about this new system. How's it been working for WBS? We're not going to keep hearing more about "the best defense is a good offense [puck possession]" are we?
I suppose we'll see it in action soon enough.

I look forward to seeing what this team looks like after the deadline. I have a feeling it will look a whole lot different.

i think this deadline will be exceptionally boring. more teams will be in the playoff hunt because of the condensed schedule. less sellers.
