From what I've read on Twitter (Fl reporters being retweeted by local scribes)

There was an argument, and his g/f got out of the car. Rainey followed. Apparently Rainey smacked his g/f so hard in the face it knocked her to the ground.

She got up and started to walk away, he went after her to get his cell phone and basically tackled her to the ground.

EDIT: Ed Bouchette reporting he was arrested for "Defiant Trespass" at the Meadows in Dec. Apparently he signed a "Self Exclusion" agreement, which means he voluntarily banned himself from the casino.

Hits women and possible gambling problem.

Just read the article @ post gazette. Yanked her out of a car and slapped her in the face with an open hand.

So breaking down a bedroom door, breaking her phone, and hitting her in the face isn't as bad if it was to stop a baptism or something like that?

Not saying what Rainey did wasn't bad, but how can they justify letting him go when Harrison wasn't?

Per the post gazette article which I cant post atm cuz I'm too laxy to do so on my phone, he had a felony stalking charge while in college that was eventually lowered to a misdimeanor. Perhaps they had a one strike yer out policy in his contract.

Hitting your girlfriend = bad

Going on a drunk joyride and trying to run over cops in Southside = ok

I understand the seeming double-standard, but I don't really have a problem with Rainey being cut.

Rainey got Cedric Wilson-ed.

Guess Dan Rooney wanted to make his presence felt after his return.

Rainey's a 4th string RB, and this isn't his first brush with assaulting females.

It's sad that all the Steeler fans who get upset when people speak on Ben's situation continually bring up Chris Rainey's case. # glasshouse

Let me start by saying guys that beat women and little kids are pond scum. That being said I think it's much more common than in the past and that women should be all over the idiots that "forgive" their boyfriends ,baby-daddys or whatever. That girl singer that hooked back up with that pig singer is disgusting. Her face was busted up much worse than a slap. A couple hundred thousand twitter tweeter whatever followers were apparently delighted.
Is there a double standard for athletes of various talent? Of course there is. If Manning punched his wife in the head do you think the Broncos will cut him? The NFL Network wants to deify Ray Lewis who indirectly was involved in the murders of two men. Lots of people were okay with Heatley getting no jail time and no suspension despite killing a teamate in a totally irresponsible accident.
Other than murder ,child abuse or similar I believe in a one strike and you're out policy for Steeler,Pens or Pirate players;and I mean while you are a pro. There are always borderline cases. Guys screw up in college, or otherwise before becoming a pro. The TE Saunders didn't get drafted because of college misbehavior and was kind of signed on a probation basis if I understand correctly. He had the adderall suspension this year which he claimed was accidental. He was on such thin ice that I can't fault the Steelers for not giving him a second chance on his pro screw up.
It's always dicey and a judgement call. The Steelers are better than some teams at this but they have their warts. Ernie Holmes managed to shoot down a state police helicopter with a pistol during a bad hair day. That was after emptying a shotgun against a couple semi's on the freeway.
