Cornball Reporter Rob Parker "not renewed" by ESPN

Image

While it looked like Parker would survive the initial outrage following his comments about Robert Griffin III, an interview that Parker gave to WDIV's Flashpoint didn't help his cause at all, though John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal says that the decision to not renew Parker's contract came before the interview was released.

The last month-plus of Parker's career was one of the most precipitous drops we've seen in a while. At the end of November, ESPN announced that Parker would be hosting the brand new First Take Saturday edition along with Cari Champion. Then not even three weeks later, Parker made his comments about Griffin, and his star at ESPN dimmed instantly, finally being extinguished today.

I was expressing my anger over this last night on twitter. Whyyyyy? Put together a pretty solid defense after losing your starting inside linebackers and nose tackle. I was really curious to see what would happen next year with a healthy defense. Missing Jay Ratliff and Sean Lee in the middle of your defense is gonna be pretty crippling.

Why does it make sense? Jerry Jones is the answer.

Actually I think once Garrett found out his job was safe(this part is where Jones is at fault), he decided that it was a good idea to get rid of someone so that blame could be focussed that way. Ryan was a sign that this organization was growing up and moving in the right direction. This confounds me.

haha, that is so awesome that Rob Parker is out of a job. I predict he ends up landing as an "analyst" on a channel that is more sympathetic to his political views.

I didn't really understand the Rob Ryan firing. I mean, the Cowboys defense wasn't great (lower third in scoring defense, middle of the pack in yardage), but they dealt with a ton of injuries.

Someone just argued on TSN radio that Manning should be the MVP over Peterson because in Minnesota, Peterson was the only dimension of the offence. Hmmm.

Tim Tebow: apparently the one player in the NFL you have to publicly name under the "will not be trading for" list.

Tebow is probably the only athlete that people have a genuine visceral dislike for by doing nothing than just being himself. The lengths to which people will go to denigrate his character and his person is truly something to behold.

Michael Vick tortured and heinously murdered dogs, but people didn't treat him with the kind of constant barrage of harassment that they do Tebow.

Yeah, you got the wrong guy on that regard.

What exactly has Tebow done (not ESPN) to deserve the hate that gets tossed his way?

Doing my first sports betting in quite some time....two team parlay, Atlanta to beat -2.5 and Green Bay to win outright. $22 to win $70, more optimistic about Atlanta than I am GB

You have every reason to underestimate the Falcons and like the Seahawks momentum. something just tells me this isn't going to be close

Interesting. I see that game and SF-GB as being very close, but you never know. I any case, I'm really looking forward to both matchups.
