Postby SLF66 on Sun Jan 13, 2013 11:09 pm

Don't know if you are actually serious that the TV HOME of the Penguins is carrying the games or not.

I think it would be safe to assume so.

ROOT was going to have all of them outside of national TV exclusives before the lockout, so I have no reason to believe that won't be the case now.

Believe it or not, there are NHL teams who don't have local broadcasts of all 82 games. Hurricanes are definitely one such team, and I think the Blackhawks were another prior to the Cup team.

Florida is another team.
A few years ago i believe the Canucks and Oilers did not broadcast all their games.Either that or they were on a ppv.

Versus is now NBC Sports Network and it is on channel 220 on DirecTV.
Also if you are NOTin the Pittsburgh Market and the game is on Root Sports as well as NHL Network or NBC Sports Network it will only be shown on NHL Network or NBC Sports Network. Set your Tivo accordingly.

The Blackhawks never had home games televised until the middle of the 2007 season. Six weeks after their old-as-dirt and obviously out of touch with reality fanbase destroying owner died, his son took over the team and they started airing home games.

I remember when I was younger and the Penguins had their ridiculous pay-per-view channel for a few home games. Only lasted a couple years, most likely because everyone I knew just gave the broadcast the Playboy channel treatment and watched it scrambled.

Will they? I doubt it. I mean, I wouldn't think the Pens would get better ratings than the MMA, Trash Sports, Retrospectives that they currently had to fill the slots with, do you?

Ahem...................

It wasn't long ago when FSN didn't broadcast every single Pens game either.

I think most of those games will be on ROOT too. I think only 3 are exclusive to Versus.
If you have ROOT they will be blacked out on Versus.

My understanding is that the other 4 games aren't exclusive because they're part of NBC's "flex scheduling" where they have until 13 days prior to the game to decide whether they'll air it or not.

Holy ****. I can't believe this was even questioned. Pittsburgh gets the one of the highest ratings for hockey in the country and Root isn't going to cover it? WTF is this, the Pirates?
