Changing my address

My fiancee and I have been living together for about a year now, but we still have separate addresses. Mine is still my parents, which is only a block away, and her mailing address is her dad's and for some reason her W2 address is her mom's.

How big of a pain is it going to be to change addresses? I.e. tax returns, car registrations, drivers license? I know for mail you just fill out a form and the post office does the rest. Also, we want to combine car insurance policies to try and save a little coin. Is this a pain?

I need to know about the car registration as well, I need to do that. I have no interest in changing my drivers license.

I know. I hate to change the car registration cause we are fayette co and we're in westmoreland now which means emissions tests, but im hoping to save like $80-100 a month on insurance by being on the same policies. I dont want to go to the DMV and get a new license though either.

You should be able to do that online, and they mail you a card with your new address on it. Unless it's different in PA

I wouldn't bother with the license until its time to renew it. I've survived changing address 7 times since getting my original license, the license doesn't reflect any change though.

she renewed hers 1/2011 and i renewed mine 03/2012 so we're good for a few years on that. I just dont want problems if i ever get pulled over.

The biggest pain I had changing addresses was come tax time where you had to keep track of all the paper work for the local taxes if you change counties. So keep track of what tax is getting paid where. Also, the Emergency Services Tax. Federal and State taxes shouldn't be a problem unless one of those addesses you mentioned is in a different state.

I had her change her address on her W2 on January 3rd actually.. so im hoping to avoid all that hoopla. As far as me, i'm not moving counties/boroughs/anything.

The registration and license is easy you can do both online. With the license they just send you a little paper card with your new address on it to keep with your license, you don't actually have to go and get a new physical license unless you want to. And then you have to pay for it.

Moving within our own state isn't bad at all. I despised moving from MD back to PA.

Changing your mailing address can also be done online (usps.com). It will cost you $1 that they'll take from a credit card listed at your (original) home address.
