Worry about things like his contract when it comes to it. Right now, he is a Penguin. Nothing outside of that can be said or done at this juncture.

I'm not sure where you heard that, but I'm 99.99999% it's incorrect. The PA got the league to agree to set the cap for 2013-14 at $64.3-million but after that it goes back to the same formula linked to revenue.

I have no issue what so ever with Staal being traded. I think it was known on both sides he wanted to move on.

Pretty hard to complain about Staal being traded. Shero got a great return for him, which was shocking given the circumstances.

Here’s all that we know at this point, which should allow us to make better assumptions about where the two numbers will go in the coming years:

- The salary cap will be $70.2-million this season, $64.3-million next season and cannot ever go below that $64.3-million figure for the life of the deal.

Thanks. Strange that I can't find any other sources citing it.

However, that doesn't do much to change how much of the cap those 5 players would eat... it'd drop from just above 50% to just below 50%.

I'm still skeptical about the accuracy of that. Has the CBA been released yet, I need to peruse it. Though i'm never going to go through it as much as I went through the last one. I'm not sure why I cared about some of that stuff.

New here. Love this board. You guys are great.

Question.

Why would you read an article about how Malkin doesn't want the spotlight and then worry that he'll leave to be "the man" on another team because he doesn't want to be in Sid's shadow? I'm thinking he likes it just fine.

Logic rarely exists on this board. Certainly not in PR.

Don't point things out like that. We need chaos.
