No, he was signed after just one year in college (at an older age, obviously). He's got NHL size and speed, and just enough creativity and hands to hack it in the bigs. He's an actual prospect.

Oh, and THIS. I got too excited after all the initial attempts were a normal view where you could see everything.

#Pens finalizing contract w/ F Jayson Megna, a prospect camp invite out of Nebraska-Omaha, stood out in camp with high-end speed and skills.
Megna was all over the puck in the scrimmage last day of camp. He was easily the best forward shift after shift. A few players had a few great shifts and stood out, but he generated offense with his speed on every one of his.
Nice signing for the prospect pool.
At the rookie camp scrimmage in the Summer, I picked Megna out as the most impressive forward. The puck seemed to follow him like no other out there against that level of competition. At that time, he was on an invite. So glad they signed him, but you would have had to be blind not to see his obvious talents.
I remember Mikey having some negative things to say about his scouting profile, something about not playing with his linemates, but that kid creates opportunities. I really think other than Bennett he is our best prospect at forward to fill a top 6 role. Keep in mind he has made what many guys of his ilk find to be a tough transition and done it while having to deal with an ankle injury. Then he steps onto the ice in a scrimmage with the big boys and by all accounts handles it very well.
He is a very interesting player to get for nothing. Nice find by the Pens.
