Blahsma cannot be fired. Who would properly mark the water bottles on the bench? Who would appoint mustache boy each month? Who would Dan Potash sit with on the plane?

Its going to take something really bad to get him fired during the regular season. However, I thought he should have been fired after the Flyers series.

I realize this is partially in jest. But Shero deserves some blame as well for the past 3 years of postseason failures. And this year, look at our holes....yet look how much cap room and assets we have to trade. Lots of pressure on him to improve the team this yr.

I am no fan of Bylsma's system of long breakouts, terrible power play scheme, and a lack of in-game adjustments.
When it is 2-0, on the road, and coming off a loss... you don't back off the throttle but you sure as heck don't just throw the puck around with 3 forwards standing at the opponents blue line and teams are easily jumping the boads to create turnovers. On the road, you back off, tighten the defense-to-forward gap and you bring the puck up the ice as a five man unit and get it deep.
What's the term, grind them b****** down?
Well, that isn't exactly grinding them down by losing the puck 19 times.

And it's not grinding them beotches down when Crosby is leading the team in hits.

Semi-serious question:
I wonder how DB would fare as a coach in Columbus?

FHCMT was all about puck control. DB doesnt know what that is anymore.

Ken Hitchcock couldn't even do well in Columbus. 1 playoff in ~ 3 seasons.
No coach will do "well" until they change GM's.

i dont see how Shero isnt to blame? The offense got worse and he did noting in the off-season. It was clear he wanted to make a splash in FA and failed once again. Here we sit with a crappy D, 1 legit winger, tons of cap space, and a lot of D men that we are told have value....

A trade is going to happen this season. Might happen sooner than Shero wants. But DB is mostly at blame for the way this team is performing. No reason this team should be blowing 2 goal leads against a much inferior Jets team. Disturbing trends from last season continue. That is on the head coach.

Shero assembled enough talent to win, it is up to the coach to create a system that works with the talent on hand.

It's also up to that talent to execute on the ice. Turnovers are a product of mis-execution, not system.

Its not just one or the other. It can be both. Systems can absolutely bring about more turnovers against. And I think that is a big time con of Bylsma's system.

If the Pens go 500 in the next 10 games then it's time for DB to go, because then you're approaching almost the halfway point of the season and under Bylsma things have got worse each season since the cup win

DB does tons of in-game adjustments. They're just often bad. I think he over-thinks the game, instead of relying on the pulse of what's happening. The result is that he tries to force a particular concept onto the ice, and it doesn't work, doesn't fit. Or worse, it works once or twice and then he does it all the time despite repeated failures.
Do I think he should be fired? Not yet. But if the Pens fall flat this season, then it's time.
