LGP NASCAR Thread

Dirt will always come first for me. NASCAR can never replicate what happens on a Saturday night speedway. Seeing the trucks on dirt will definitely be awesome. Every race fan needs to experience the World 100 at Eldora at least once in their lifetime.

This is just a quick glimpse of my favorite World 100 of all time. This was right before Josh Richards got his gig in ARCA.

Can't wait for the trucks at Eldora. Great move by NASCAR when it has tended to limit its variety. Just look at Montreal's elimination. Some commentators seem annoyed and characterize the Eldora race as gimmicky, arguing that NASCAR is a paved series, it should stay on pavement. I think a dirt oval is as gimmicky as a road course, though, and I'd much rather watch the Trucks at Eldora than the 6-lap Road America race or almost all of the Cup races at Chicago, Texas, Michigan, etc. etc. etc.

Apparently Jeremy Mayfield called into a NASCAR radio show on MRN that Bill France was on and asking him directly how he could be reinstated. It is cringe-worthy.

LOL - yes. I read this. After the fact, it was discovered that France knew Mayfield called in and agreed to take the call. talk about moments in bizarre.

On another note, DirecTV cancelling Hotpass.

I think the names on the windshield look gimmicky and have Brian France's moronic hands all over them. By far the two worst "commissioners" in all of sports are Brian France and Gary Bettman.

Both have taken two great sports, annoyed and ignored the grassroots fans, and have done a terrible job of marketing their sport.

The only racing game that came close to my like of Dirt to Daytona was Grid. D2D was an absolute blast that needs recreated.

Brian is no Bill France. Or Bill France Jr. Mike Helton would be better served in that role, but he's not family.

I like the names on the front. They'll help the lay fan identify who drives which car. You won't have people wondering if Stewart drives the 20 Home Depot, for instance. The names create an aura of individuality that exists in most other sports.

media tour week gives us Danica coming out as being with Stenhouse, 5 years her junior. Which sounds almost as disturbing as her prior marriage, where he was 13 years older than her.

Meh. 5 year difference is nothing especially for a "celebrity" marriage. Odder is the idea that significant others will race against each other. Seems really weird.

Patty Moise and Elton Sawyer raced against each other in the Nationwide Series. Not sure if they were married at the time or not. Anyway, I don't see this relationship being that much different than any of the brothers or fathers and sons who have raced together on the track.

I don't get the pun (unless you associate females with condom brands). Moreover, I see no way how Danica could "sink" NASCAR. How? At worst, she fizzles, but that doesn't detriment the sport.
