While it's important to know that you can find happiness on your own, I think stories like this are great to share because they reaffirm that not all stories are horror stories. There's someone out there. It can just take awhile for two great people to cross paths at the right time. I think many of us know this already, but sometimes it's easy to think it can't happen to you. I never thought it was out there for me, either.

Congratulations, IE! :D

I slogged through a decade of heartbreak, abandonment issues, sadness, and regret before I finally met my beloved sweetheart. Fifteen years together, and not a day passes when he doesn't show me in some way that I'm his beloved.

You guys know we've got the hockey thing between us :scared: ; I'll remind you that some of the best things are found in the most unlikely places--and variety is the spice of life.

So, yes, it's out there. Believe it. :)

Thanks, Lt! It's not even so much that I've had bad relationships, or was treated badly... but this guy puts them all to shame with appreciating me and doing little things just to make me smile. I actually, honestly feel treasured when I'm with him. It's really quite amazing.

So yeah. Having a ball right now. :P

If you want, I can bring the negative in this thread. :)

I just don't want to turn into the exact thing that I complain about re: Facebook, where people get on their soapbox about being single, their bad dates, etc.

My "problems" are small compared to the my wife is a ho post from a few pages back and isn't really worth ranting about.

Basically a cold streak of one-off dates followed by the most recent one of "not being ready to date", despite dating/seeing/hanging out with said girl for awhile (longer than a month, but less than two.) By that point, it's either you know or you don't. If you're not ready or you're not interested, say something.

So there is this girl that I have waited to ask out since summer because she went to Ireland for 6 months and I, well I didn't want to ask her out when she was out of the country. Anyway, I have gone back and forth on whether or not I still want to ask her out because we both have changed and tomorrow will be on the first times I've seen her in person since before she left. There is something between us, but that was then. Decisions decisions...

Have you kept in touch her via Skype or whatever?

When my now-wife came back from her study abroad trip to Europe, where she spent five months, it was definitely a weird feeling for the first couple hours. We awkwardly approached each other and hugged like we were almost strangers.

Interesting.

I started dating a woman and she went to Europe a few weeks later for a trip. It had been long planned and she was gone for a month. It was kind of awkward at first, when she came back.

I was in no mood to Skype, honestly.

But we would message through email or Facebook each other at least once every few days to stay in contact and to see how her time had been, talk about her tours of places yadi yadi yada
