Hardly the fix we need, but worth a shot I guess? C'mon Shero, none of these freebie moves, deal an asset and get Sid a winger.

Well doesn't someone need to go down or get placed on waivers/IR?

Crosby's winger!

Nice pickup, former 1st rounder who is only 23. Good upside, nothing given up.

Hmm. 109 Points in his last two AHL seasons, but he only has 18 points in his 71 NHL games. What's the harm I guess. Do we now have to waive Lovejoy or someone else, or do we just place Nisky on IR.

I'm guessing Niskanen to IR...?

From Hockey's Future:

Talent Analysis

Boychuk is a fast and offensively gifted forward. Plays with courage and toughness - played much of the WHL playoffs with a broken wrist in 2007-08. A bit lighter and smaller than ideal NHL forwards, he is highly-skilled and uses hockey smarts to overcome his limitations. Still learning the nuances of pro hockey and sometimes has lapses in the neutral and defensive zones.

Future

Should crack the Hurricanes lineup this season. In the long-term, has the ability to be a solid second line forward with the ability to play in all situations. His offensive instincts also suggest power play potential.

Pittsburgh - Carolina North

From The Forecaster:
Assets:
Is versatile enough to be used in any game situation, and at any forward position. Has scoring potential, grit and hockey sense. Sets a good example in terms of his work ethic.

Flaws:
His lack of ideal size for the pro game may hinder his ability to produce points on a consistent basis at the NHL level, so he may have to settle for a defensive role.

Career Potential:
Versatile forward with some upside.

Another head scratcher if he plays instead of Jeffrey or Tangradi.

It'll definitely be Niskanen to IR. No sense waiving someone when you don't have to.

Not really in the case of Tangradi. He still hasn't shown much of anything, except being a step behind.

Maybe Boychuk becomes Andy Hilbert 2.0, who knows. It's a harmless move.

Maybe we'll get some former first round pick magic in new location out of him like we've gotten with Nisky.

I don't know why people think Jeffrey is any sort of solution in the top 6. He can perhaps keep up with Sid, Neal, or Geno, but he doesn't have the offensive ability to contribute meaningfully on those lines beyond retrieving the occasional pucks. He can't pass well enough, and he can't finish well enough.

Ah I get it, they passed up on Sterling last year so they could get another undersized forward this year?

His favorite player is Iginla, he's destined to be Sid's winger.
