this seriously makes me reconsider my netflix stategery. thats the only thing i use mail for.

Sunday: no mail

Monday: return movie to Netflix

Tuesday: Netflix receives my movie, sends me another one (presumably new release - they come out on Tuesday)

Wednesday: I receive my new release in the mail

Thursday: send it back

Friday: Netflix receives it and sends me another one. New releases also come out on Friday too.

Saturday: Get my second movie of the week.

Now what?

They should have done away with it on a day like Tuesday.

if you send them in Saturday and netflix receives it on Monday, they will ship you the new release for tuesday on monday so you'll have it tuesday.

so now:

Friday: send movies back

Saturday: no mail

Sunday: no mail

Monday: Netflix receives my movie, sends me another one (presumably new release - they come out on Tuesday)

Tuesday: I receive my new release in the mail

Wednesday: send it back

Thursday: Netflix receives my movie, sends me another one (presumably new release - sometimes they come out on Friday)

Friday: I receive my new release in the mail, burn it, send it back same day.

I got 3 movies going at once and it's a chore, but it all works out

It would be nice if you could still drop off mail and they'll ship it Saturday, just not have carriers delivering.

I read that opinion somewhere else too. They should have no delivery on Wednesday and be open a full day Saturday so people can go to the post office when they actually have time to go to the post office.

As long as packages are still delivered, I don't care regular mail delivery has stopped.

Our mailbox lid broke when we lived in an apartment, so mail was getting rained on. Being an enterprising chap, I moved our mailbox up four steps - a distance of about six linear feet - so it was under a roof overhang and protected from the elements. The USPS halted our mail delivery. I went to see the town postmaster, where I was told they apportion routes not by number of physical addresses, but by the number of steps the mail carrier must take to complete their route. I said, "I seriously moved the box four steps...." whereupon the postmaster quickly interjected and said "Ah, no..... you increased it by eight steps. The letter carrier has to come back down the steps, doesn't she?"

I'm not an angry person by nature, but I do have a bit of a temper. What followed was a frank exchange of views that culminated in my mail being withheld indefinitely. I actually had to go to the Post Office a couple times a week to pick up my mail, before the apartment complex manager finally replaced the broken mailbox and installed in the original location.

It baffles me why more companies don't do this.

They probably want employees that have an education. They're not going to work for a company that makes them come in on the weekend.

Right now I normally get 2 movies per week (8 per month) with Netflix:

$9.99 / 8 = $1.25 per movie

With Redbox that would be 1.61 * 8 = 12.88 per month

Now with Saturday delivery eliminated I will only get 1.5 per week, or 6 per month.

$9.99 / 6 = $1.67 per movie

Redbox will be a tiny bit cheaper. If I didn't get so many catalog titles I'd probably jump at that. I still might.

Yeah, but with Redbox you need to stand in line behind the morons who take 15 minutes trying to decide what movie to rent and how to use the machine. That, imo, is Redbox's biggest failing.
