Watching ESPN the last 2 days doing their picks for next year and rankings, almost every one of them have all of the sudden ranked Flacco as the top QB in the NFL right now. Just because he won the Superbowl does not mean he is the best quartback out there. And just like in every other sport, they're all picking the Ravens as the odds on favorites to win next year. Thats all they do is pick the team that just won, and predict they'll win again. So stupid.

My thoughts exactly. Once I stopped watching ESPN sports got better.

Charlie Batch won a Super Bowl. Guess he's supposed to be one of the all-time greats.

I don't have cable/satellite at home, so I've "missed" ESPN and the other talking heads for three years now. Of course, they have multiple versions of ESPN on at my gym. For 60 minutes, there was a Flacco, Ray Ray, or a Harbaugh on the screen of either ESPN or ESPN 2. The game was two days ago! Time to move on, right?

Flacco would've cheated to win, tackling the kickoff returner on that last play.

What an idiot, i don't think he has any idea what the backlash would have been if he convinced someone to do that.

I dont think for a second he was serious. But watching the video he doesnt even smirk like he'd be joking. I still dont think he was serious nor do I think anyone, including him, would have gone thru with it.

Ha... you know I don't know. I don't think they could really do anything else but assess a penalty of 15 yards for unsportsmanlike, and throw Flacco out. THe other team gets one more shot, but it really wouldn't be that bad of an idea.

I dunno if there is a penalty in the rulebook for something like that.

I imagine a penalty would be called and because the game can't end on a defensive penalty, the 49ers would have a chance to run a play on offense. The ball wouldn't be re-kicked because the penalty would have taken place after the ball was caught.

I think they can award a touchdown if they feel there was a clear path to come to that conclusion. I feel like this happened before in college of some sort and a touchdown was awarded.

as i've stated, the yokels one town over spent an hour lighting fireworks, blaring sirens and honking horns after the ravens won. they're all eagles fans living in the philly burbs, but flacco grew up in their stupid little town. the yokels all tell me that flacco is such a great guy and that's why everyone's so happy.

i have my doubts.

We'll assume Flacco had no real intention of coming off the sideline for a touchdown-saving tackle since Ginn did break free for an instant near the Ravens bench and neither Flacco nor any of his teammates came onto the field.

And, it's a good thing Flacco and his teammates left the tackling
to the 11 men on the field since, according to NFL rules, the 49ers could have been awarded a touchdown had someone from the sideline interfered on the play.

Rule 12, Section 3, Aricle 3 of the NFL Rule Books states:

"Palpably Unfair Act. A player or substitute shall not interfere with play by any act which is palpably unfair. Penalty: For a palpably unfair act: Offender may be disqualified. The Referee, after consulting his crew, enforces any such distance penalty as they consider equitable and irrespective of any other specified code penalty. The Referee may award a score."

Had that have happened, instead of taking home the MVP award, Flacco would have been lugging around the stigma of the guy who orchestrated the worst championship ending in the history of team sports.

I kinda wish that had happened just to see if the refs would have the balls to give a TD in that situation.

You have more faith in the officials than I do. My gut is they call a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and SF gets a shot at the end zone. If they didn't have it in them to throw flags on SF's 3rd and 4th down play where there was a clear H2H/DPI then I really don't think they would make a call that would win the game for SF and risk someone claiming a Baltimore player had an angle on Ginn.

If something like that, in that scenerio were ever to happen, I would like to think the fans of the team that did it would be furious with their own idiot players and that guy would no longer be able to show his face in that city again, but I'm well aware of how delusional most fanbases are. After 1 SF play Ravens fans were full force ready to blame the blackout.
