Am I missing something with teams doing this? Why not let them stay down in WBS and play as opposed to bringing them up to be a healthy scratch? Just curious.

He may not be sitting...
Shelly Anderson just tweeted Letang went off the ice during morning skate, and hasn't come back yet.

Bortuzzo takes a puck to the face in warm-ups. BAM!! Swollen eye and can't play. And you don't have a defenseman scratched, what do you do?

Exactly. It never hurts to have that extra guy. Plus practicing with better players can't hurt too much.

Good god no, don't want to see Reese in NHL action.

Also gets him time practicing with the NHL squad. Its always good to bring guys up to get time with better players.

Kunitz gave Letang the explosive diarreah he had last week.

Will Letang have an explosion on the score sheet too then?

No, the team has ordered extra glass for the panes behind the net though...

Rewarding a kid who has done well, giving him some extra pocket change as they will make more sitting up in the NHL than playing in the minors, insurance mostly but Im sure they like the extra per diem money and pay at that age.

Reese is 28 and I doubt that any team calls up a player just so they have to pay him more.

Shelly tweeted HCDB said Letang is a "game time" decision.

I'm not sure I understand this. Why would they
want to pay him more money? I mean, I can understand the insurance concept: they need an extra d-man in case someone gets hurt or can't play. But why pay more than they have to just to reward a player who, really, hasn't earned a reward of that kind?

It's not why he was called, so there's no point trying to understand it.

Now he has to pass thru waivers to go back down.

No he doesn't. He cleared waivers at the end of training camp which means he must either play 10 NHL games or spend 30 days on an NHL roster before having to go back through waivers.

The next time I make a factual post about the waivers process will be my first.
