Selling Clothes (Suits) Online

Postby Kraftster on Sun Feb 10, 2013 6:24 pm

In the past year or so I have lost about 30 pounds. Needless to say, I no longer fit any of the suits that I wore when I was at my peak weight, which sucks. I've slowly been acquiring some new suits that fit, and I have been running out of room in the closet. I figure my pursuit of a new wardrobe would be aided (in terms of both closet space and some extra budget for new purchasing) by the sale of my old suits.

Has anyone sold clothes online? Ebay and craigslist are about the only options that I am aware of. I am trying to figure out how I would go about pricing the suits, and whether there are any other details that I should be thinking about.

Any thoughts? In case anyone out there is interested, most of the suits are 46R with about a 36" waist and 32.5" length.

Craigslist is probably the best. That's where I would look first. I'd start at 50% of purchase price and go from there. You can get a decent suit from Goodwill for $20, but it probably won't fit your dimensions. If you post the suit's size, you'd probably get a few decent hits.

Keep in mind that you might gain that weight back.

Don't keep the suits. You might gain the weight back, but you'll be more likely to try to lose it again if nothing fits. Don't give yourself a backup.

That's my thought. I actually saw the video of the best man's speech I gave before I lost any weight. I will not gain this weight back. It's just not an option.

Hopefully not, but **** happens.
I finally went from too thin to putting on 20 pounds in a year. Then again, you probably won't be going through quitting smoking.
