Hope we don't see them in the playoffs. Bad matchup and boring.

Boychuk looks good so far. But Malkin and Neal look pretty terrible with him at ES... But still look great on the power play. Time to shift up the lines again?

When the Pens stars don't get it done, they don't win. Plain and simple.

I think if there is any disappointment in Sutter is he does not make linemates better. Staal made Kennedy look pretty good a lot of times. Same with Cooke. I think we all knew that when we picked him up. At least the 3rd line "duties" of his game is not a drop-off. Cheaper too. That's how I look at the entire thing.

Need a winger and a center for Boychuk.

Why would you have assumed that Sutter was/is a comparable player or be able to have that effect?

Actually I think the Devils are pretty effective at the same style the Pens played when HCMT was canned and DB took control. They are probably the hardest working team in the league too. I guess you can call it boring but they won damn near every battle for loose pucks all night.

We sit back and play a 1-2-2 when we dump it and feels there's a less than 50-50 chance we can win possession. The Devils collapse back deeper to their net than we do, but that's not trapping.
Collapsing back towards the net is a strategy that has been effective against the pens for many years now.
It's effective against more than just us. It's a seminar in Modern Defending 101. Very few teams don't have a strong collapse back to their net, in fact, we didn't even early in this season. We're learning now and do a better job. It comes standard now, like leather in a luxury car, it's a given.

Never assumed Sutter = Staal. Not for a moment. However, I knew Sutter coming in was going to be probably the best 3rd line center we could have possibly hoped for. Fantastic trade by Shero.
Edit:
Probably have to read up and see who it was that said they were disappointed in Sutter. I'm quite happy and content with him.
