I agree that Tangradi seems like one of those guys who just doesn’t fit in here. I don’t know what it is, but he has been offered opportunities to perform and just hasn’t been able to cut it. He might benefit from different scenery, and I think Boychuk can adequately take that spot.
It’s not unprecedented for players to perform better in a different system or environment. Neal and Niskanen didn’t seem to be doing all that well in Dallas, for example, but seem to be fitting in here. Package Tangradi with maybe a surplus D-man or two and let’s see what we can get for him.

Boychuck easily. Easily.
Good wheels. Nice semi-dumps that he gets to first himself. Good hitting. In the last game he teamed up nicely with Geno a couple of times for creative plays leading to scoring chances.

Boychuck is an upgrade over Tangradi. The guy has created some chances and always finishes his check. The latter of which i wasn't expecting. Tangradi goes into the corner and whiffs on the D man and the puck. Thats about it.

the code option works wonders for stuff like this.

Lock them in a room, break a pool stick in half, tell them there's only room on the team for one of them.

Answer, neither are the answer for the 2nd line left wing, or any wing for that matter.

This was originally made because someone made a Bortuzzo vs Engelland thread. Not sure what happened to it.

It's Boychuk over Tangradi. Personally I think Jeffrey is far better than both of them. I'd leave him on the second line for a few games. From what I've seen he has a far better shot than both of those guys and his stats at the NHL level indicate he's the better player. Heck just watching him on the ice he looks better and creates more chances than those other two.

This argument should be Boychuk vs Jeffrey.

I agree Jeffrey should be in the lineup over Boychuk or Tangradi. I thought he had a decent game with Malkin before he was replaced by Boychuk.

What -- I think he's a better option on that line than Boychuk at this point.
Jeffrey did something last game that most of our forwards can't, which was actually create a scoring chance on his own via deking a defender. But aside from that, he's a better player anyway.

Brian Metzer @Brian_Metzer
Look for a forward or two to hit the wire... Tangradi, Jeffrey, and Boychuk easier to risk than any of the defensemen. #Pens
So, who's it gonna be?
I think Dylan Reese is as much of a candidate to get waived as well perhaps.

Reese won't go on the waiver wire though. He has 10 games or 30 days on the active roster (whichever comes first) before his rights are up for grabs.

^^ I Didn't think he had to, but was too lazy to look it up. Seems he would be the easy choice to make room for Letang and Nisky to re-join the roster.

I didn't think he had to either. Not sure though. But unless there's a trade or something of that nature, he'd be the logical choice to go.

I haven't jumped of the Boychuk bandwagon yet, I still see good things from him. It's his first NHL season, there could be a lot of reason for a mediocre start.

Reese will be one (non-waivers) but someone else will go as well, hence the tweet.

With both Nisky and Letang coming off IR, only Reese would have to be sent down. Pens would be at the max of 23 (14Fs, 7Ds, 2Gs).
