Because it isn't in "The Big 4".

Hell you can make the case that there really a Big 3 with how people talk since hockey is a afterthought in most major cities.

How is "The Big 4" determined? Does MLS not have enough teams?

Define that...they drew more than NBA and NHL games last year.

Largely because of a few teams like Portand and Seattle drawing huge crowds. Most MLS teams (like the one I follow the Columbus Crew draw average crowds).

I would define it by attendance yes but also TV ratings, people involving playing soccer, corporate support etc.

Cool, Mueller is now on the afternoon show and they're talking NBA. Not a coincidence.

The guy likes basketball and boxing more than hockey.

He's been trying to talk NBA all week. If he continues to do so the PM drive gig won't last long.

Stern did say Pittsburgh was in the running for an expansion team today, so it is a locally relevant topic.

I guess not. It wasn't homoerotic enough so people switched to MMA.

Off the top of my head:

NYC 8 (Mets, Yankees, Giants, Jets, Nets, Knicks, Isles, Rangers), (you can probably throw the Devils in there as well)
LA 5 (Lakers, Clippers, Dodgers, Kings) (you can probably throw the Ducks and Angels in there as well)
Chicago 5 (Cubs, Sox, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks)
Miami 4 (Dolphins, Heat, Marlins, Panthers) (I know Panthers not technically, but close enough)
Phoenix 4 (Suns, Dbacks, Cardinals, Coyotes)
Toronto 4 (Blue Jays, Raptors, Leafs, CFL team)
Boston 4 (Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, Pats) (again, Pats not technically, but close enough)
Dallas 4 (Rangers, Cowboys, Stars, Mavs)
Detroit 4 (Pistons, Wings, Lions, Tigers)

Woops, forgot Washington, Philly, and Denver

This is all I can think of right now. Some like Boston, Miami, adn even Dallas, are more spread out to surrounding areas, but I count them.

These are some pretty large cities. Pgh isn't in the same class.

Denver metro = 21st biggest metro.. 2,543,482 at 2010 census
Pittsburgh metro = 22nd biggest.. 2,356,285 at 2010 census

I always get such a kick out of how every so many years they try and shoehorn the idea of a basketball team here in Pittsburgh.

It won't work and it never will work. People here don't like that sport and the culture that pervades in that league.

I don't care if the NBA came here and the Pittsburgh team won the damn championship. I would never watch an instant of it. I never have even watched Pitt play at their best of times.

lol what a horrible column.

I think I would still be into boxing if it was still all about the heavyweight bouts that were legendary. Boxing has become so diluted, and the stars have become so meh, it's hard to keep any interest. I can't even imagine anything like Holyfield vs. Tyson ever happening again.

I see now... No surprise

I'm just honestly confident a lot of 6th graders could make it flow better than he did

The way Pryor was forced to begin his NFL career was mentally taxing but things have got much better.

Pryor was confident that his hard work ethic would serve him well as the Raiders went through a regime change.

He was humbled by the way he came into the league and it motivates him to work even harder. Pryor would have liked to participate in the NFL combine and feels that he would have outperformed everyone there.

The suspension cost Pryor a possible first-round selection. The suspension pretty much blind-sided him and it hurt him that he had to deal with that.

Pryor believes that he could be in the NBA right now if he decided that he wanted to but defending Lebron is another thing. He still considers Jim Tressell a mentor who he is close with.

Also, Pryor says he and Antonio Brown are going to be running a camp in Pittsburgh in May.

Filliponi is one of those guys that no one likes. Actually heard that he's a dbag in real life, as well.

Bigger question, did Root Sports let Paul "Drunktank" Alexander go? I haven't seen him on there for a while.

Boxing is pooh anymore. The best fighters won't even fight each other anymore.

I stopped watching it in the late 90s.
