damien brunner

Postby sjnhiils on Sun Feb 24, 2013 9:36 pm

Brunner added two goals today and now has 10. He sure would have looked good in a pens uniform. In the summer it was reported that the penguins were one of the front runners to land him. Should Shero have gone after him harder? Given their cap situation , along with having no forwards in their system for trade bait, Brunner and his entry level contract would have been a good fit.

At least Shero got rid of Michalek instead of Martin. Martin has been strong this year.

Perhaps he wanted to play in DET, rather than PGH?
There is an historical precedent for that.

I've become a big fan of Brunner, the kid is talented. I think he is going to be the next big Detroit Euro star.

Plus I picked him up in fantasy before the season started when no one knew about him and it has paid off as a great sleeper.

We, like they, were limited by the entry-level system in terms of both dollars and term. It wasn't a matter of going harder or softer, it was just a matter of, "there" instead of "here" ...I'm just glad the organization is thinking a little outside the box AND finding actual, useful undrafted talent out there...

I feel like we're always noted as a front runner to land top talent, but it doesn't bother me when we don't get every offensive superstar.

Equal pursuit from the Pens and Red Wings(which i'm sure there wasn't) and the Red Wings are going to land a guy like this every time.

Very much NPR... but I am glad I picked him up off the FA list just before the season started in my fantasy league.
