I would add Jagr in a heart beat.

I still feel a bit like a jilted bride from the whole fiasco a couple years ago, but more importantly, I don't think Jagr fits what the Pens need. As has been said in numerous threads, the Pens need someone like Kunitz, who will forecheck aggressively, win puck battles, be defensively responsible, and score dirty goals in front of the net. It would be nice if this Kunitz 2.0 also had some veteran leadership magic to make sure cooler heads prevail when the intensity gets ratcheted up.
Jagr might match the veteran leadership part, but certainly not the first part of the description. I thought he was a defensive liability for the Flyers last year in the playoffs, and his offensive contribution didn't outweigh that. Maybe if he could be had for a mid-round pick and/or mid-level prospect...but I wouldn't pay anymore than that.

Still one of my favorite pens. I would love to have him back. I always hoped he would come back somehow and retire here.

The fiasco was completely fan-driven. Shero lowballed him and pulled his offer before Jagr made a decision, and he didn't even sign with the team that would pay him the most. He was a mercenary for Philadelphia just like he would be for us. At 74 years old he is still 10x the player Kennedy is and would be a nice veteran presence through the playoffs. With that said, Dallas has next to no incentive to move him unless they are high on Kennedy or a pick.

We don't need him anymore. We need to figure out a way to grab Gonch again.

This board is obsessed with fantasy wingers from the 90s. Alfredsson, Iginla, Jagr... Pens don't need scoring. They need grit, character and D. Another faceoff guy wouldn't hurt either.

Can't remember who made it, but a video was created spoofing Taken with Shero's face 'shopped over Liam Neeson's. Petr Svoboda's answering machine, from the infamous Pensblog phone call, responds to the, "...I will find you and I will kill you" speech. Really wanted to post it in this thread.

I am sure Jagr has a NTC or LMC I highly doubt we would be on his list. Philly has a better chance of landing him than we do. Double J wants power play minutes. Not going to happen here.

We need Jan Hrdina, Martin Straka, and Steve Mckenna if the Pens are serious about winning the cup. WAKE UP RS

Penguins have and can only win cups in a dome.

So sign Robert Dome and there will at least be a tie-in to that nugget of information. That is what you are saying right, because I am totally on board with that.

Lets clarify that, they have to be based in a dome, obviously they can't seal the deal in a dome though.

It's a good move for several reasons:
1) It will give the Pens a talented winger for the short term and give Bennett some time to mature.
2) It will block the Flyers from getting Jagr back and putting him with Hartnell and Giroux, who are both struggling without him. If RS passes on a chance to get Jagr again and he goes back to Philly and the Flyers eliminate the Pens again, it may untimately cost some people their jobs.
3) It will give the fans and Jagr a nice closing chapter, heal old wounds, and he'll go out a Penguin and a Cup winner.

Why would getting Jagr automatically make us Cup champs?

Sure Jagr would be a great pickup. It's hockey, the guy's still a warrior. But Dallas isn't selling...

If it was that easy, we should have signed him last year to a 5 mill contract.

I don't get the sentiment. Still gotta win 16 games.

They aren't selling today, but in 5 weeks or so near the deadline if they are hopelessly out of the playoff race then they will be selling.

Why wouldn't it make them Cup Champions? Every time Jagr joins the Penguins, they win back to back cups.

Fact is we have never won a cup without a Czech on the roster. For those who don't want Jagr find another Czech to add to the team please.

Is Prospal Czech? Get him. If they're not mathematically eliminated, they're at least eliminated in practice. He'll fill in at C till Malkin comes back too.
