Went through a phase in high school where I listened to nothing but Fishbone and Bad Brains. Check out the documentary "Everyday Sunshine" on Netflix.

What a shame. I love the story of Garth only joining The Band after the other members agreed to pay him for weekly music lessons so his mom wouldn't get pissed off about wasting his classical training.

anyone know anything about Palma Violets?

XMU keeps playing 'Best of Friends' which i think has a great sound. But i'm not as found of 'Last of the Summer Wine'.

Just curious if anyone knows which to be their more typical sound.

The Sea & Cake are the most consistently awesome band of the last two decades. That is all.

It's a shame they probably never play in front of 500 people in the States.

Heard about this. Did you happen to see the Love For Levon benefit concert on AXS TV a couple wks ago? It was great, and Garth sat in on piano for a few songs, though it was sad that Robbie wasn't there. Garth looked down and out, for sure. He's worked with Burrito Deluxe in the past few years, but that apparently didn't pay any bills.

Honestly, The Band in their heyday is probably at the top of my list of concerts I'd want to travel back in time to see. Led Zep, Who, Stones, Beatles would be great, but The Band is just right in my wheelhouse and they were all just insane musicians, and most very good rock singers. To be at Winterland back in '76...

Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/stone-temple-pilots-fire-scott-weiland-20130227

Weiland responds:
I learned of my supposed "termination" from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be "terminated" from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday. – Scott Weiland

I didn't know Weiland was even back in STP.
I loved those first couple of albums, not much after that...

Didn't this happen in the late 90s and early 2000s too?
