...maiden voyage of the Titanic II from Southampton, Eng to NYC in 2016? :scared: or :thumb: There are already 40K requests for tix on that trip. And I imagine it's not gonna be cheap either. :pop:

No, but only because from my experience, the North Atlantic is cold, boring, and crappy.

This is the part that blows me away:

“This ship has so far had 40,000 people on our website for tickets, and we’ve had 16 people that have offered to pay more than $750,000 to $1 million per cabin (on the maiden voyage)"

Not to disparage your reply, but this is what folks (most at least, except maybe the vikings) were thinking before 1492.

And may I suggest an Alaska cruise then? Land is always in sight, and it is one of the greatest places on the planet.

I would have been just as happy being born en Europe. No need to sail West to India as far as i'm concerned.

The cruise lines like to say:

It's not the destination it's the voyage.

Then how come the most desireable destinations (Hawaii & Alaska) are the most expensive.

You're not afraid of cruising are you I40F? Plenty of folks are, like those who are afraid of flying.

This is how I feel about that.

No i'm not afraid of going on a cruise. I actually would consider an Alaskan cruise, that has a good deal of appeal to me. But a carribean one or something...I'd rather just go lay on the beach for a few days.

I presented this exact argument to the girlfriend a few months ago and we are going to St Lucia in April.

Sorta true. If you go on a cruise to the Carribean, you can buy really cheap booze to bring home. Usually less than 1/2 of what you might pay in the good ole USofA. My wife bought a 1 LTR bottle of Contreau for $22.00 aboard her ship. A .75 ML bottle normally costs about $45 at home. But a single drink is more expensive on a ship than it would be in any homeland bar.

If you ever decide to go to a cruise to Alaska, and by no means are cruises there cheap, you night want to do a cruisetour. 7 days cruising and 3-5 days on land touring by bus and/or train. And the farther away you get from the middle of the cruise season to Alaska (Early May to Mid-September) the cheaper the cruises or cruisetours are. Mid-July (when my wife and I went) for instance, is the most expensive time because it is the warmest. And if you can wait until the last minute (week or so) to make plans, that is when you can get the best prices. But if you book early you may get a free upgrade to a better room. For instance, to a suite from a balcony. But by all means a balcony is the much better option than an interior stateroom, and nothing less really is acceptable..

just wondering though, how do you get it back home if you're flying from the cruise terminal. you couldn't carry it on, right? do you just pack it in checked luggage and hope it doesn't get broken by the baggage handlers?

So what is the opening line in Vegas on whether or not this ship will have problems? Over/under on number of icebergs they encounter?

Meh. While It’s going to look like the original Titanic, the guts are going to be thoroughly modern. And I’m sure it will have radar and GPS navigation. It wouldn’t be any more dangerous than any other modern ship.

Howard Stern said that if he had more money, he'd build an exact replica of the iceberg and drop it in front of the ship.
