well, he's clearly the greatest qb ever because he played like 4 or 5 good games in a row, right?

enjoy your super bowl, Team Legitimacy.

also, enjoy being screwed with the salary cap for the next 6 years when your 20 mil/year qb thrrows for like 3200 yards, 20 TD's and 17 INT's...

Update from AS:

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
To be precise, Joe Flacco's deal with Ravens will clock in at six years and $120.6 million, a bit more than Drew Brees' in almost every way.

i was just looking at next year's matchups to make a prediction on the ravens, and i notced that the steelers really got screwed. we have to play at NE & GB (and in oakland which always kills us for some reason). anyway, the ravens could very easily finish 9-7 next year. they have a pretty tough schedule, especially if houston remembers they are good again. I still think Flacco is an absolute garbage QB, playoffs notwithstanding. how long do you think it will take for a team to figure out their one trick pony offense next season?

Steelers are going to be terrible next season.

Cincy - Baltimore - Pittsburgh - The other team.

well, baltimore is fortunate in that they play NE, GB, and HOU all in baltimore. however, going to denver and chicago are going to be tough. i figure they will probably split with us and cincy... and they will probably lose a game they should win (minnesota or detroit maybe?) and maybe win a game they should lose. i think 10-6 is probably where they are going to end up, but let's see what kind of cap casualties this deal causes first.

Baltimore won't make the playoffs next year.

Terrell Suggs, the new defensive leader, and he can't stop talking about how much he hates the Patriots.

Flacco proved in the playoffs he is elite, he deserves to get paid. Maybe not highest paid player ever, but he deserves to be one of the top paid players in the game.

I think Flacco is a newer version of Trent Dilfer

That is a horrible comparison. Dilfer played 6 playoff games in his entire 13 year career and only threw 4 touchdowns in those games along with 4 interceptions. Flacco is only in his 5th season and has made the playoffs every year and is already at 13 playoff games played.

In his his first 5 playoff games he threw 1 touchdown and 6 interceptions, but in his last 8 games (last 3 seasons) he's thrown 18 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions with a 6-2 record.

Compare that to some of the top QB's in the playoffs their last 3 seasons:
Brady: 6 games, 3-3 record, 14 touchdowns, 7 interceptions
P. Manning (not counting the injury year, last 3 years he played): 5 games, 2-3 record, 10 touchdowns, 4 interceptions
Rodgers: 7 games, 5-2 record, 14 touchdowns, 4 interceptions
Roethlisberger: 4 games, 2-2 record, 5 touchdowns, 5 interceptions
Brees: 3 games, 1-2 record, 9 touchdowns, 2 interceptions
Ryan: 4 games, 1-3 record, 7 touchdowns, 5 interception
E. Manning: 4 games, 4-0 record, 9 touchdowns, 1 interception but did miss the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years

in this most recent post season, flacco benefited from pretty favorable interpritations of both offensive and defensive pass interference, as well as the "feel good" story of the ray lewis farewell tour. none of this changes the fact that the ravens were LUCKY to not be an 8-8 team and miss the playoffs, LUCKY to get past denver, and LUCKY the refs decided to hand them the super bowl in the 4th quarter.

flacco sucks, and the ravens offensive scheme is everything wrong with the current NFL... go for the bomb... if it's one on one, throw it. if it's close, have the reciever push off... if it's incomplete, cry for a flag... if it's covered, dump it off to the only player on the offense with elite talent, and hopefully he turns that 2 yard throw into a first down.

Flacco's first Super Bowl sounds a lot like Roethlisberger's first one. They were lucky not to be an 8-8 team to miss the playoffs, they were lucky to get past Indianapolis, and lucky the refs decided to hand them the Super Bowl throughout the entire game while riding the "feel good" story of the Jerome Bettis farewell tour.

I don't dispute anything U say but you could make at least the same amount of comparisons with the Steelers Superbowls

do you idiots have your stiller blinders on so badly that you refuse to acknolwedge this guy just beat brady and manning in playoffs, and along the way threw 11 touchdowns and 0 interceptions? you think this guy isnt going to be paid for that kind of performance?

do you people realize he now has as many playoff wins and playoff appearances as large benjamin does? all in four fewer seasons?

stiller fans has stuck with this image of flacco getting emasculated by troy polomalu. but kenny the kangaroo has bad news, people, its not 2008. joe flacco is good.

Regardless of how good Joe Flacco is, dat contract is a huge overpay. Does KTK believe he is the top player in the league? The Ravens had a season where everything went their way, it was like they maxxed out their luck attribute.

Nothing establishes a voice of reason better than starting your post with "Do you idiots..."

Flacco is a bit overrated right now but his playoffs have elevated him beyond his career "middle of the pack" status. It's a tough pill to swallow.

The ravens, however, were just about the luckiest team ever to win a superbowl. If the steelers in 06 are in the same boat, so be it. It doesn't change the fact that they shouldn't have made the playoffs, got a once in a lifetime break to beat Denver and benefited from unreal officiating along the way - particularly in the home stretch of the superbowl.

was drew brees ever the top player in the league? is eli manning worth his 109 million contract? Are WR's like fitz and megatron worth $100 million? Who knows? kenny the kangaroo isnt convinced that flacco is any better than ben, but that doesnt mean all this huffing and puffing and lol'ing in this thread isnt silly.

And give kenny the kangaroo a break with this "luck" stuff. Every championship team gets good breaks, that doesnt minimize the accomplishment.

and a stiller fan saying that another team maxxed out their luck attribute after the that super bowl XL victory is lol worthy. ben's miraculous tackle, vanderjadgt's choke job, all of the inconsistencies in the actual super bowl.

The 06 steelers got lucky that Ben made that tackle, but lets not gloss over the polamalu "no fumble" that put them in that put the game in a position it should never have been in.

They weren't "lucky" to win that game
