Mark Eaton = Stanley Cup

Postby Old Time Hockey on Thu Feb 28, 2013 9:56 pm

If Eaton comes back to play with Letang and Orpik sticks with Martin, then we could play Engelland, Despres, Niskanen, Bortuzzo, etc. I believe in Mark Eaton so much its not even funny. Some of my best friends think Im crazy for saying this, but Im dead serious. Mark Eaton is the key component to going far in the playoffs. Somebody save this thread for when we do.

The Islanders released him. That is all.

Pens love to dig through Islander scraps. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. I am taking the later on this one. Even though I like Eaton and he has the right attitude about his current situation. It's just not going to happen.

I am still fine with this signing, he isn't going to crack the top 6 unless there are injuries. You got to figure a vetern like him would know to stay in shape and be ready at a moments notice.

Islanders also....
- Traded Roberto Luongo, Zdeno Chara, Oli Jokinen......
- Signed Yashin and Dipietro to career contracts.
- Are moving to a smaller basketball only "rink".
- Are owned by Charles Wang who seriously scouted sumo wrestlers to stand in goal.

Nothing the Islanders do makes any sense and should never be taken with any seriousness. Letting Mark Eaton go should not be seen as a bad thing from our prospective.

While Eaton could be a serviceable defenseman on a long cup run, he should NEVER be considered as "THE PIECE"

I would not be shocked to see Eaton play the next game.

Are you suggesting that Despres isn't a top prospect?

Eaton's play away from the puck was always pretty good. Hopefully he can teach some of our other d-men how to follow suit. Eaton may not be able to play the game at a high level, but he can still think it.

Shero might as well trade Despres since Bylsma has no intention of playing him unless the rest of the defensemen are in the hospital.

Even then I could see him putting Craig Adams back there instead

"The Pens appear to be shuffling their forwards and defensemen for tonight, and it looks like Eaton will play."

Orpik-Letang
Engelland-Despres-Bortuzzo (rotating)

The coaches know more than I do for sure, but I just don't "get it". Looks like we will get to see how this works out. Wonder if Depres will be the odd man out?

If Martin is out and Despres not playing, you might as well send him down. And fire Bylsma.
