hes just like ben.

So flacco isn't average because his average stats were the same as another guy's average stats

He's somewhere in a mix of Luck, Wilson, Rivers, Newton right now

Stafford, Dalton and Romo? wow.

Over Flacco? Everyday of the week, twice on Sunday.

This list is aggressive. No way you'd take Kapernick over Flacco. Same goes for Romo. Stafford is close, but I'd take Flacco.

Only 1 I don't take is K'pick

Dalton isn't any good. Certainly worse than flacco.

ben didn't deserve 20mil a season then, either. the top paid QB's (aside from peyton manning, who is both probably the best QB to ever play the game, and not signed for the same term) make between 9mil and 13 mil a season. flacco's deal is like someone giving Quick a 15mil/year contract because he had a really good playoffs with the kings last year.

and stats don't tell you that ben played behind the worst offensive line to ever win a super bowl in '08. probably the worst to ever reach a super bowl for that matter.

i'm not sure what people are arguing here... is he worth that much? no. does it matter what I think or what anyone on this board thinks? surprisingly enough to some, no. your opinion on him doesn't matter. he's making bank, good for him.

Quarterbacks don't win games. Teams win games. Look at some of the playoff games where the Ravens won but Flacco played like crap. He gets credit for those? QB wins is as irrelevant as starting pitcher wins.

Because in 2007 BRoeth was 2nd in rating, 7th in completion percentage, 14th in yards, and 3rd in TDs. In 2009 BRoeth completed 67% of his passes, had over 4,000 yards and was 26/12 TD/INT. You compared Flacco's best season to BRoeth's 2nd worst professional season. Congrats. Flacco has been pretty much the same player all 5 of his seasons- completion %age between 57 and 63%, around 7 yards/attempt, QB rating between 87-92.

Ergo: average

Except during these playoffs. Which swings him to above average. Certainly not as good as this contract indicates though.

His contract indicates that he's the best so saying he's not as good as his contract indicates IE the best isn't saying much.

When evaluating a player, what do you weigh more- 80 games, or 4 games?

playoff games deserve a bit more weight in the equation - superbowls, especially. but yeah, his post season run isn't enough to negate his CONSISTENT average play over his entire career preceding it.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/ ... -potential

It might seem crazy to suggest that 18 other guys deserved more money than a quarterback who led his team into the playoffs. But let's break down the play of Flacco. Of 38 quarterbacks who attempted at least 175 passes, the Ravens QB had the 33rd (or sixth-worst) adjusted accuracy percentage (a stat that accounts for drops, spikes and throwaways), behind guys such as Blaine Gabbert, Nick Foles and Sam Bradford.

When Flacco was pressured, he had the 20th-best completion percentage, and when he would go deep (which he did on a league-high 17.3 percent of passing attempts), he was only 18th in adjusted accuracy percentage out of 33 quarterbacks who attempted at least 28 passes. So you can't blame the numbers on drops but rather on the horribly inconsistent play of Flacco, who would look like a star against the Raiders in Week 10 then stumble on both occasions when Baltimore faced Pittsburgh.

In part, the Ravens got to the postseason in spite of him, with his play on the field largely forgettable at times.
