Test Drove the Scion Fr-s today...

Postby Bioshock on Mon Mar 04, 2013 11:59 pm

What an incredible vehicle. Probably the best handling vehicle i have ever driven and was just all around fun to drive. Was incredibly responsive and when you turn off all the assists... It becomes an absolute animal. Was able to completely burn out from a standing start and the guy with me did a three point burn out at an intersection.

Highly recommend it. Gonna buy mine in a year or so. Just wanted to see how it felt overall.

Not enough horses for this guy (who drives a Jetta with no more than 170 BHP) :P

Trust me dude, you don't need any more power with this car. Was absolutely incredible because of the chassis and weight ratio. Went 0 to 60 in a little over 6 seconds. Was able to burn out completely sideways. Has power to burn. Gotta give it a try.

HP is overrated in determining whether or not a car is fun to drive.

Not a Scion, but I looked at one of these 2 months ago at a Cumberland dealership.

Is that the Subaru version of the same car?

Also, as an aside, LGP needs a car-lovers thread

Toyota owns Scion so I believe the car shown as Toyota is actually the Scion model.

The Subaru version (BRZ) is the same version as the Fr-s. When you pop the hood of the Fr-s, it literally says Subaru on the engine.

The BRZ and Fr-s were a joint effort by Toyota and Subaru. Also, it sounds a behaves nothing like a 4 cylinder car. Lot of fun.

Probably a BMW M3. Been on the track at Beaver Run and Mid-Ohio and this car would be a pleasure to take on the track.

I take back what I said now that I think about it. That M3 wasn't street legal but if I want to be literal, the M3 handled better. But it was also an 80K car. This car costs 27K.

I looked at the FR-S almost a year ago. I decided to go with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe V6 3.8 instead. Main reasons were the car had more room and a lot more power. The FR-S is really nice though.

I would buy that BRZ in a second if it was all wheel drive.

The convertible FR-S is gonna be nice too!

Just a concept, but I really don't see how this isn't reality in a few years..

That Scion looks really cool. How many HP and what is the typical price for it, not the option-less price?

200 is a decent amount for a fun driving car. My cooper S didn't even have that and it was extremely fun to drive.

That. I used to drive 2002 Mercedes C230 Kompressor Sport, and with 192HP and 200 lb torque is was definitely billed as a "sporty" car, and it gave me quite an acceleration even when driving in the mountains (mainly Ozarks, but still...)

Have a BMW 335d. 265 hp with 425 ft pounds of torque. Incredibly fun to drive. I haven't driven that many sporty cars, but this one is easily the most fun.

My turn, my turn

211 hp with 258 ft-lbs of torque @ 1500 rpm....and nowhere near 42 MPG :(

Going to Ohio last year I might have hit 32 mpg. Between sitting in parkway traffic and some stop/go traffic, I usually get about 24.
