Also shocked by his being scratched. Same with Vitale. Not really sure why Eaton stayed in the line up, though when I did notice him, he didn't look terribly out of place.

But the Flyers are meanies and Engo can punch them in the face.?!?
We need a free Despres rally.

If Engo keeps playing instead of Despres then there is something wrong with Bylsma. It makes no sense at all. Engo didn't do anything tonight except help the Flyers. He was by far the worst Penguin out there and has been the worst defensemen all year.

This insanity needs to stop.

If DB wants to dress Engelland because of the fists, then move him to the 4th line wing once in a while. Probably never happen because he doesn't have the foot speed to be an effective forechecker but it is not the norm for your defensman to also be your enforcer...

I've kind of wanted to see that. Is he slower than Adams or Glass? Or Jeffrey?

So do the Pens have a goaltender controversy?

Eaton was there because he's solid and does his job extremely well. I'm assuming Engelland was in for the physical presence. Can't really give a good argument for him vs. Despres, though.

i liked watching boucher on that 5th goal. it's always good to have a backup goalie who looks like he's breaking his hip when he has to move across the crease

YES. Neither of them want to start games against the flyers. 8-)

I'll wet blanket all over this. They've given up 3+ goals in eight of their last nine. There isn't a playoff team with a worse GAA in the NHL right now. Even worse, winning games like this likely just reinforces that it's OK to give up this many goals because they can just score 5 or 6 or 7, whatever it takes. We know how this ends. The 2nd seed will mean nothing when they get beat by the #7 because they're facing a team that actually can stick to a tight game plan.

Hey, it's great they came back. It's great they're winning. It's great Sid is in position to win a scoring title. Just recognize that these things will be the height of this season. There's no point in even hoping for more because they clearly are never going to kick their problems.

I'd like to give Chris Bourque another shot on Geno's wing. Well worth a try.

Yep, Eaton is earning time. He's been invisible, which means hes doing just what he's supposed to do.

What I can't explain is why you would want Engalland in there before Despres. A physical player that is 'good enough' just isn't good enough anymore. Get the best player into the game as much as possible. 47 has been better than 2 and 44 all year. Hard to argue that he shouldn't play because of an issue with his 'role'.

Bennett looked great tonight. That quick look he took to check his options and find Neal as he was picking Simmonds's pocket is next level stuff. Confident play.

yeah, the flyers' tears make it palatable, but i don't really feel super about this one. defense, goaltending, circus, etc.

Who would have thought. Bennett a projected top six forward had his bed game in the NHL when placed in the top six.

He practiced on the 4th pair today. If that doesn't say 'find a seat, Kid' I don't know what does.

All the more reason to forget about top-six wingers and get some grit and skill on the 3rd and 4th lines and help at the blue line.
