That may come to pass, but it doesn’t appear to be imminent. Colon’s agent Joe Linta told Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the Steelers have not asked for a reduction in Colon’s salary and that the team has informed him that they don’t plan to do anything with Colon for the time being.

I am not amused.

Which former steeler do you want to see them bring back: Hinesey, Sanantonio Holmes, Plaxico, Jeff Reed, or No Gay is enough.

Fortunately for pittsburgh None of the above is out ahead. But Hinesy and Plaxico coming in at 23% and 22% is pretty telling. I view the last option as a cop out, i voted sanantonio.

I personally would love to see Jeff Reed back.

They're ready to dump Harrison, who is productive when healthy, but won't dump Colon and his $7M cap hit even though he sucks and is never healthy.

Just stupid. Harrison may not have been as dominant, but the defense was noticeably better with him in there because they still had to respect him.

Colon is just a pile of crap.

i dont really care about harrisson. when was the last time we regretted cutting ties with a pro bowl LB too early? at this point in his career, it's just not a great investment to pay him based on his resume.

colon is also indeed a piece of crap

Cut the guy with the most sacks on the team. Let the guy with the most receiving yards walk in free agency. Keep the guy who led the NFL in holding penalties while playing in 11 games. LOGIC!

So happy they dumped Harrison. Dude can't play anymore and sucks out loud.

Gotta dump Hampton next. Foote as well.

On the positive side, James Harrison answers to no one now. Goodell should go into his panic room and surround himself with armed guards.

Related- they appear to be gambling that Jarvis Jones will get to them in the draft. If they pass on Jones for a RB then I'm going to have to do everything I can to get Tomlin kicked out of the W&M Alumni Association.

I'm a bit ambivalent on the Harrison release. I thought he was productive once he got back into shape, but wasn't anywhere near as productive as in the past or anywhere near as productive as one would expect of a player with that salary. In the past, I would have trusted the Steelers' front office to make the right decision and would have gotten behind pretty whatever personnel decision they made. However, their decisions the past couple years have been questionable.

I see the next two years being small rebuild years shedding age mostly on defense. I believe the working of Colon's contract makes it so that there is more savings to the cap by cutting him later. I thought I read somewhere that he would only save us like 600k if cut not but after a certain point in the offseason would save us significantly more. Not sure how that works tho

 :o ; hopefully this hasn't occured to James.

IN looking at James Harrison's build; you have to wonder how the hell he had the success, he had as a linebacker!
All the best to him!

A LeBeau 3-4 base needs a big, athletic tackle and middle linebackers that can stop the run and get after the quarterback. What you're suggesting leaves us with Steve McLendon and Stevenson Sylvester in the middle with Timmons... In that scenario, from a personnel perspective, the Steelers can't field a 3-4 without adding some depth in free agency.

:thumb: One of my favorite Steelers. Actually his height combined with incredible strength worked to his advantage. He'd get under the huge OTs , use his leverage and more often than not get held. He may have had more non-called holds against him than any NFL player.
