Another new Alkaline Trio album is coming out soon. Hope its better than their last few....talk about a band who peaked early. Their first 4 albums were great, then their releases progressivly became meh.
Here is the new single

I forgot about that band; saw them play in a bowling alley in Chicago circa 1999.

I feel like alkaline trio is following the same path as AFI. Make some good punk records, then become some weird goth/punk hybrid and become terrible. Also, what's the deal with the dude's lipring, i mean come on man, your like 35. I guess they're plan is to just keep trying to appeal to teenagers. Must be a record company business model.

The new Bowie video features Tilda Swinton. Tilda Swinton is just fabulous. Sorry, no link.

Heading to Texas tomorrow for SXSW. So far the priority list that has been been made is to see Thermals, Wavves, Surfer Blood and Mac Demarco. I'm going to push for DIIV, Merchandise, Thee Oh Sees and the Orwells. Everything else is just gravy.

http://tv.yahoo.com/news/morrissey-canc ... 000597.htm

Morrissey has canceled all remaining dates on his planned North American tour.

Citing "medical reasons" -- the singer has been suffering from a series of mounting health issues over the past months, including a bleeding ulcer, Barrett's esophagus and double pneumonia -- a statement says the former Smiths frontman has chosen not to proceed with 22 planned dates across the U.S.
"Despite his best efforts to try to continue touring, Morrissey has to take a hiatus and will not be able to continue on the rest of the tour," the statement reads. "Morrissey thanks all of his fans for their well wishes and thoughts."
The tour, delayed by health issues, nonetheless kicked off with a bang in Los Angeles with back-to-back dates earlier this month at Staples Center and Hollywood High School, in which the singer appeared to be in good health, spirits and voice.

Disappointed fans are directed to collect their refunds at point of purchase.

Bowie's new album is quite decent, especially considering how he's done nothing of note for ages now.

Reading PJ20, Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary book, there is a clip regarding a 2010 MSG show where Band of Horses (Ben Bridwell, singer) opened. PJ invites Ben on stage to sing Cornell's part for Hunger Strike. Bridwell talks about how nervous he was to belt out the first verse, being bolstered by the crowd's reaction, then how he was again nervous going for the high-pitched scream during the chorus with Vedder. But he really goes for it, and hits it, and you can see Vedder watching him lead up to that chorus, then get a grin on his face when Ben hits it (1:50 mark). There's a bunch of YouTube clips, but this one shows it the best, though not the best sound. I found it really cool to read about Ben's thoughts of that performance, then finding the video of it. At the end Bridwell is overcome by emotions and gives a very heartfelt but very corny 'Pearl Jam is the Best Band!' as he leaves the stage.

Bonus - Great Vid of Band of Horses' 'Knock Knock' Reminiscent of Weezer's Buddy Holly and 90's rock vids, back when MTV actually played music vids.

I've been meaning to pick up both the PJ20 book and Blu Ray. It is very hard to sing any Chris Cornell parts but that dude did a good job. BOH actually ain't to bad.

They are both excellent (book and BluRay).

That vid above is from BOH's new album, produced by Glyn Johns (Led Zep, Who, Rolling Stones, Eagles, etc), Mirage Rock. It's a bit poppier than BOH's previous albums, which had a more mystic, solemn feel to them (The Funeral is a good example). It took me a few listens, but Mirage Rock ended up being one of my faves from last year. Being front row at their show with My Morning Jacket at AE in August probably helped. :thumb:
