Apparently Dumervil's agent didn't fax the signed contract back to Denver in time to make the 4 pm filing deadline.
That sounds fishy.

the whole notion of using a fax to confirm a multimillion dollar contract in 2013 is fishy

How convenient that his fax was too late and became a FA.

I didn't care enough to ask about it, but this seems like a fairly significant loophole. I mean, if you are a really good RFA, all you need to do is have your agent stall and send your RFA offer back after the deadline? Be interesting to see if a bunch of agents start getting the "oopsies" next year.

well, in fairness, denver released him and was trying to strongarm him into restructuring his deal. he wasn't really a free agent in a pure sense
