The spectre of playing for a winning team was too much for him I suppose.

edit: also, very glad to see him out of the AFC. Dude always gave us fits.

Elvis Dumervil is a free agent because the Broncos didn't file a revised contract on time. Whoops.

Apparently Dumervil's agent didn't fax the signed contract back to Denver in time to make the 4 pm filing deadline.

That sounds fishy.

the whole notion of using a fax to confirm a multimillion dollar contract in 2013 is fishy

Old people stuck in old ways. Heck this state still requires you to mail certain forms to them which take 6-8 weeks to process when everything could streamlined online and take a few clicks. There's no point.

Greg Jennings takes his football and goes to Minnesota. 5 year deal, 47.5 million dollars.

My company still doesn't accept electronic signatures for executed agreements. Wet original or fax.

Dumervil to Ravens.

How convenient that his fax was too late and became a FA.

I didn't care enough to ask about it, but this seems like a fairly significant loophole. I mean, if you are a really good RFA, all you need to do is have your agent stall and send your RFA offer back after the deadline? Be interesting to see if a bunch of agents start getting the "oopsies" next year.

well, in fairness, denver released him and was trying to strongarm him into restructuring his deal. he wasn't really a free agent in a pure sense

he signed a 6 year deal in 2010. there was a roster bonus for 2013, and he was cut to keep it from going into effect. then, he had an extention worked out, and the fax stuff happened

I was reading about it last week... I guess they were trying to get him to restructure his deal and he wasn't going to do it at first, so the Broncos put in the paperwork to cut him. He then changed his mind, but conveniently the paperwork came in too late to stop him from being officially cut.

Not like the Broncos are "innocent" in this, but still smells.
