Since when did Clint Hurdle become the manager for Italy

I was just about to make a joke here about Italy getting Hurdle'd.

And now Italy are trailing because the 3rd baseman has no range and the 1st baseman apparently has never played 1st before. This is like watching a Pirates game. I'm getting twitchy.

There was even a pitch down the middle inexplicably called a ball by the home plate umpire.

Was it Piazza that started the loose affiliation trend?
Grilli playing for Italy seems silly, though I know it's not the first time.

I think it goes back to soccer. The US used to have guys on their team who had American wives even though they didn't speak English.

To be fair, at least those guys were citizens.

There aren't 16 baseball nations in the world good enough for the tournament, so they had to get some players in on the sly. The rules are quite ridiculous but so is the tournament.

As easy as it is to complain about not using closers, it doesn't always work. Kimbrel got shelled in the non-save situation and took the L for USA tonight. Take that sabre-nerds

Pirates/Astros is on MLB Network right now. It's the Houston feed. Jonathan Sanchez survived the first inning. El Blimpo just legged out a double.

McDonald's first inning- a walk, a triple, and 2 singles, accounting for 2 runs. Add McDonald to the list of derisive nickname candidates.

Buccos with a "2nd Alternate" jersey this season? I did not realize this:

Evidently they're keeping the black alternate as well.

I have no problem with it. I'd like them to just admit why they did it tho instead of pretending we're all stupid but im used to that. Apparently Cole isn't too happy about it, but i havent heard or read what his comments were .
