To be honest, I've had very little interest in playing the game. I got 3-4 cities up to 30-40k and never seem to have enough cash to grow. I'll let it run for a while, and comeback to find several zombie outbreaks, fires, and other disasters that require whatever money I have in the bank to get everything back up and running.

Despite being in several online group regions, I don't see a lot of interaction between the groups yet. I have a bus and train system that connects to others in LGP SimCity land, but that's about it. What do we need in our region?

There are things broken with the trade between cities. Hard to tell what works right now.

This game is a complete disaster as it exists now from everything I've read. I recently saw a story about how hackers have found out a way to access other people's cities and have destroyed them. Since the only place you can save the game is online, you're SOL if this happens.

It was proven that they can't sync back to Origin while doing this so the destruction isn't saved.

One "cheat" if found with the garbage dump is that when your land fill is full, you can go in, bull doze it, and replace a new land fill (which is free). Garbage back down to 0.

I had the meteor disaster hit. That was fun. Oh, and the godzilla thing. I have not been hit by an "normal" disaster besides earthquakes.

Godzilla was the worst actually, but fortunately neither he nor the meteors hit any major buildings.

I was wondering why I always got the "worker shortage" issues. I basically destroyed my whole industrial area and added all housing and still got the messages.

I also can't seem to get above 79% approval rating and noticed that if you personally have more than one city in a region, they are progressively harder to keep approval up.

I started playing as well, got the game at release but was on holiday last week. Looks fun so far but not really sure how to make two cities interact with each other. I built one mainly for residents and commercial with very little industrial and the other other city was mainly industrial and little residential and commercial. Somehow they don't really seem to interact despite train stations and regional bus lines being available.

Well I guess it worked out. I ended up getting Mass Effect 3 for free. So a two for one deal is ok. EA still sucks though.

Yeah if I could get and play this for free, I'd try it out. Oh well, preventing piracy is costing them my money. :pop:

I've been playing SimCity 4 recently. It's really a great game with still a huge following. All EA had to do was improve upon SimCity 4 based on recommendations from the fanbase and they would've had more sales and none of the bad press they are experiencing now.

I am familiar with all the Sim City games, but I had never heard of this one. WTF?

myabandoneware.com is a great website for old DOS games. You may need DOSbox to run them though.

Civ 5 deal since I imagine there is a good bit of crossover between Sim City/Civ players:

Sure but Simcity games usually aren't for everyone. EA shrunk their market by being short sighted and screwing over their fanbase.

Here's a question: does my city "run" when I'm not playing it actively? I went back to the first city I created and it was quite a bit bigger than I remembered it, and their was sufficient coin in the bank. This is a private region, with a few cities that I run by myself.

I would imagine a region with trade between cities would have a city "run" whilst I was away, but not sure about solo cities.
