This happened in my hometown. Pretty cool, but also sad that it's gone.

Fun fact - in the final episodes of last season's Boardwalk Empire, this whiskey is the distillery they are speaking of at West Overton, PA, birthplace of Henry Clay Frick.

I stopped buying beer at the games, way to expensive. I carry in a small bottle of rum and buy a large coke and i am GTG for the game. This also cuts down on trips to the bathroom.

I've once sipped from a $400 bottle of beer and have a $300 bottle of champagne that is waiting for the perfect reason to open.

But 102k worth of whiskey?

“It would be drinkable, but if that seal is broken, you could even run into botulism,” DeCroo said.

Enjoy dat botulism, John.

I split a $375 bottle of montepulciano with my ex, a few years ago.
(She brought it back from a trip to Italy, at some point.)

It was good....but not $375 good.

This is kind of how I feel. I will gladly spent $12 for a 4-pack of Alchemy Hour IPA, because it is a distinctly better flavor and the price point isn't that much higher.

I can't imagine a $4000 bottle of champagne tastes that degree better than, say, a $100 bottle. At some point, the quality simply can't keep up with the price.

It was a 10 year old bottle and probably the best wine I've had.
But I imagine if you paid $50 for something recent, you'd get the same experience.
(I'm pretty sure that she had paid $20 for it.)

And I agree, I think you're better off spending $15 on a craft/German/Belgian beer, than a $15 bottle of wine.
At that price point, the wines can't compete for the complexity of flavors.

A $15 dollar beer is much higher on the price spectrum than a $15 dollar bottle of wine

BTW, the only reason I got to enjoy that wine is that her previous BF was a recovering alcoholic, so she just stored it away.

True, but I think he was just applying a flat monetary scale.

They do mention in the end of the article that most of that value is in the bottle and label, not the whiskey inside.
