Who or what positon should the Steelers Draft.

Postby no name on Fri Mar 22, 2013 12:00 pm

17th overall pick, LB, WR, RB, SS... Seems like there are endless positions we need upgrades at. Any specific player in the draft intrests you?

Seems like LB is where a lot of guys are in that 15-20 range. I honestly think they should hope to trade down a bit, pick up more picks.

Take BPA, looking back at guys selected 15-20 you have Pouncey, Timmons, Polamalu and Hampton there so there are good players there in every position and we can use help pretty much everywhere.

BPA anywhere except OL, DL & QB. WR and RB come with an * because this would have to be a game changer on offense, an AP or Julio Jones type talent (so basically BPA somewhere else).

No reason for a LS, they just signed him to be the LS.

Based on how they are handling free agency, it's gotta be either Nose Tackle or WR.

If they stay at 17, they have to take Vaccaro.
1- Troy misses way too much time anymore. And Troy and Ryan are long in the tooth.
2-Steelers have always found quality LBs in all rounds.
3- The drop off from top safety(s) to next tier is probably greater than the other positions.
But as I said before, I hope they trade down twice in the 1st round.

This, but I'll add TE to the list. You expect your 1st round to be around awhile... Stretching for a specific position is a pretty terrible idea

I'd really like to see the Steelers support the defense with free agent veterans and support Ben's offense with the draft. I think Tavon Austin could require a trade, but he's a guy I'd love to see here, as well as Cordarelle Patterson who I think could be available. We need weapons like these guys, and neither one reads like a 'project'; they can probably step into a #2-3 role in the first 8 games.

Lots of needs, though, and I think the issues we have will not be resolved via the draft, at least not this year. They could rationalize a pick at almost any position except DE.

Not recently they haven't.

I see them grabbing a good rush OLB in the first round as it will likely be BPA as well as fill a need. They could get a decent safety or ILB potentially in the second round, and a good RB or WR in the third. It sucks how many impact players they need to come out of this draft if they plan on being competitive next year.

I started hearing talk of a tight end? Seems like we have more pressing needs than that, i agree get the BPA at one of positions we need.

A good running back can be found in middle rounds. If there were a good tight end, I could see them going with them so that even when Heath comes back, they can waste his hands by using him primarily as a blocker again. The limited reading I have done about the draft has been all on O-Line, so I have no idea what there is out there as far as TEs.
