Don't know. Some still think he will end up at Pitt. He is visiting Tenn this weekend. His mother is against WVU.

I just don't know why these kids put on a big production committing on national TV, and then 2 weeks later visit everywhere.

I think it's mostly ego-driven BS, myself. Technically speaking, kids aren't breaking any rules with it as they're only taking the official visits that are allowed to them under the rules. And I think most of the kids that do this look at it as "nothing is binding under signing day, so why the hell not?"

This is mostly the latest "most recruits just enjoy having their asses kissed" trend that's cropped up in recent years. Kids know they have "X" amount of official visits they can take and it's on the official visits that they get their asses kissed the most. Hell, even Boyd's mother said as much in the Trib article.

So part of me thinks this is a kid just getting a couple of nice meals and a mini-vacation on the school's dime. Some people - Dokish, Lichtenfels, Peak - that stay on top of recruiting still think Boyd stays at Pitt as well. Now, those same folks also said Foster was almost certainly a Pitt lock and we saw what happened, though to their credit, he was a Pitt lock until about five minutes before that press conference.

I think he'll stay given everything he's said so far plus the fact that some of the other Clairton kids are going to be there. If he stays, cool. If not, oh well. I'm not going to bash a high school kid over his choice of school. He's doing what he thinks is best for him and that's fine.

Objectively speaking, Pitt doesn't have a lot to sell right now that's tangible so if he decides to go to Tennessee or WVU, I can understand that. I think Chryst has the program moving in the right direction and according to the recruiting people, they're set up very well to make a major splash on the 2014 class. With the Wisconsin job presumably filled for the next few years at least, I think it's safe to assume Chryst is all-in with Pitt for the next few years as well.

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere else, so I figured I'd put it here...

Apparently word broke last night via twitter, initially by someone called "@WPIAL_Insider" or something that Rushel Shell is contemplating a transfer from Pitt.

This has since been corroborated by some of the other established Pitt-covering media via Twitter.

Chris Peak from @PantherLair about 10 minutes ago:
"Shell will meet with Paul Chryst today before making a final decision on requesting release from #Pitt"

Per Peak's twitter feed, it's confirmed that he's looking into a transfer, but he has not requested a release. Vague on details, but apparently some of this involves academics and playing time issues (not keen on possibly having to share carries, I guess?).

If this wasn't enough of a kick to the stones, rumors flying that Arizona State is a destination for him.

God. Dammit.

Yea, I always completely ignore random twitter account, such as all the "DIXON ON FLIGHT TO CALI!!!" so I thought nothing of it, but Peak is as legit as they come... shoot.... NEVER saw this coming, but its Pitt so I should have

I'm not going to say it wouldn't suck if he left, but in the grand scheme of things, losing a RB is not that big of a deal.

Well, he looked fantastic in his time last year. Plus, given that Pitt has to get the elite prospects in this area, its not exactly a good message to the top players in the area were a big recruit like Shell to leave. It hurts on and off the field.

+1 to this... this looks terrible on recruiting, and IDK.. I was expecting him to be the offense next year

on one hand its like hey, good for chryst not coddling his players.

on the other hand its like hey, we need good running backs to stick around for more than, oh, hmm, like more than 2 years.

He did but Bennett has looked good too. Obviously Shell is better, and it would be ideal if they had both.

If Pitt performs on the field, that will help recruiting more than this will hurt. It's the same old story.

Again, it would suck if he left but I'm not going to spend another minute thinking about it.
