It's just kinda meh. If they want to improve on last year, a ton of guys will need to have much, much better years (Alvarez, whomever plays 1B, the other two OFers). And they need a repeat performance from guys like Cutch and Burnett.

Opening Day roll call -- I'll be there as always. Last I checked 44 degrees and rain. But the sunshine that is that opening day lineup will shine through!

As far as I could tell, they were good for a few reasons last year, McDonald and Burnett looked liky Cy Young Candidates till the all star break and Grilli/Hanrahan were dominant closing games. McCutchen carried the offense for a few months, but when it finally came around the staff collapsed.

Definitely can't count on that from McDonald and Burnett again, but at the same time the offense should be a bit more consistent throughout the year as opposed to being no existent for the first few months. So, I think they'll be around 75-80 wins.

Wouldn't be caught dead at PNC Park on opening day or any day for that matter. Refuse to give this joke franchise my money.

Jeanmar Gomez's presence on the bullpen makes me sad. I may spend the afternoon eating my feelings.

I think it's going to be:

Marte
Tabata
McCutchen
Jones
Walker
Alvarez
Martin
Barmes
Burnett

Will probably get shut down by Samarzjia though.

20 years of losing, and 2 straight collapses speak much louder than that.

I want the Pirates to be good, it would be good for the city and for the people that stuck by them all this time, but they deserve every bit of negativity they receive at this point.

I'll be at Opening Day.

The team has all but said El Blimpo will bat in the clean-up spot this season.

Notice I didn't say hit, just he'd be in the fourth position in the line-up.

He's 3-3 with a HR from the cleanup spot today. I think last year's struggles when batting 4th were just a sample size fluke that would have evened out over time.

Jeanmar Gomez celebrated making the team by giving up 4 hits and 2 walks but only 1 run in 3 2/3 innings. I don't even know if I want to waste the effort on giving him a nickname.
