March was good to the Pens

Postby Big Easy Pens Fan on Sat Mar 30, 2013 4:52 pm

Pens are the first NHL team ever to go through an entire month and win all of their games. Pretty impressive, considering how long the NHL has been playing games. :fist:

Is Sid gonna look like Bobby Clarke did in his playing days? :face:

Even more impressive considering they are playing more games per month than they normally would have any other year due to the lockout.

The great winning streak, the last 3 shutouts, the acquisitions...what's not to love?

Injuries to Martin and now Sid aren't anything to celebrate, but this has been the best month of hockey the Pens have played in a very LONG time. I know, I know, it's not the playoffs yet, but I don't watch every Pens' game just to wait around for the post-season. If the playoffs were the only thing that mattered, I'd just watch something else all these days and then tune-in later when the playoffs started and drug into the summer.

I appreciate a team busting its butts to win regular season games that I pay to watch or that fans pay a lot of money to attend.

I agree with this. The good thing about the streak is that hardly any of these wins have come easy. In fact, only the Jets game comes to mind. The injuries and trades have given everyone challenges, and the team responded.

The most impressive thing to me this month is not how many games the Pens won, but HOW they won a lot of those games.

We saw them win 7-6 barn burners to 1-0 squeakers. We saw them win a lot of games they "shouldn't" have and we saw them dominate an entire game. We saw the stars shine and some depth guys pull through.

Most importantly, Mark Eaton. Who is this guy? ;)
