Man Vs Food Consol Energy Food Challenge?

Postby FreeCandy44 on Thu Mar 28, 2013 4:38 pm

I could totally be making this up, but did I hear or see something about a 1/2 pound hot dog at CEC? If so what is this all about and how much is it?

That doesn't seem like much of a challenge... I would say a footlong dog is probaby 1/2 lb

(I don't even know why I am responding to this) :D

The Consol's food has gone downhill since it opened. The Menu could be good overall, except the quality at certain stands has really dropped.

- The BBQ joint on Level 200 is very iffy, and the chips are gross.
- Burgatory is OK, except they won't make any special order until the game starts, which seems dumb - and it is overpriced. Wish I could get their chips on the BBQ platter.
- Primantis is too limited.
- The Sandwich place on the 100 level has some decent stuff, but I had a cheesesteak there that was just sitting in a puddle of grease.
- The best option is probably the carving station but even that is limited to one option.
- Blaze and Classics are just standard arena garbage.

I guess that might pass for decent compared to some of the crap served on 5th avenue, but the 7pm starts kill me because I would much rather hit Big Jim's in the Run and get some good bar food before the game. Rushing to the game on a weeknight leaves little choice but to eat at the game.

Blech.

I had a pulled chicken sandwich from the BBQ place behind 205 last Sunday. I must've been starving cause it was decent. My friend had the pulled pork sandwich which he said was also good. He then went down to the 100 level and got 2 sushi rolls from Nakama. The penguin roll was excellent but the spice tuna was blech. I hate go say it but the best value might have been the collectible pens cup with one free refill. I know popcorn was 4.50, anyone know how much a standard hot dog is?

Don't know about the hot dog. But now they have cheese steak tacos and loaded baked potatoes.

Where do they have the cheesesteak tacos? The cheesesteak sandwich itself was pretty lame. Meat not good in the first place, but then I don't think they drained the meat at all and let it just lay in the roll and soak it completely through. I had to toss it and forgo that amount of grease.

Maybe the Tacos are made closer to order and not as sloppy. I'd like to try them.

Most challenges on that show are for around 4-5 pounds of food in one sitting. Hell fudruckers sells a 1lb burger and they are just a chain restaurant

It'd be about $30 at the restaurant.. with a $6 tip, only about $7 more for a meal at the arena = not bad IMO.

The Chicken Conquistador came in 2nd place in Adam Richman's Best Sandwich in America series:

Conveniently, that's two blocks from work.

2 stands on the first level. Can't remember the numbers.

Saw the 1/2 pound foot long today. Second level, at the stand that has the kids' menu. I think it's a 1/2 pound because of all the condiments you can get on it.

Yet it is just "okay" as a burger. Crazy what passes for good food in a city with "burg" in its name.
