While the US has some players who dive, I think the US and England dive considerably less than many other top (top defined loosely) countries.

:scared: that was a foul in the box. Should have been a penalty.

Wow, that got hairy. I agree that it looked like a penalty earlier. However, the US has been on the wrong end of soooo many bad PK calls in qualifying history, I feel OK with them getting away with one.

Really gutsy performance by Beasley, playing through the knocks and out of position, even if he did get burned on several occasions. Gonzalez was almost perfect in central defense. Bradley also was really calm and composed on the ball.

100% agreement, going into the match I was obviously nervous about the back line. But, they came through and played phenomenal after a pretty shaky start. I was really impressed with the play, but the lack of a dynamic offensive player is going to be an issue going forward.

Can't believe they got a draw. Also can't believe that I was awake long enough to see the start of the game. I think I watched 5 minutes before falling asleep.

Did Tony Pulis take over the USMNT? Last night was very Stoke-ian.

US was outflanked in the first 30 minutes, which is why Beasley looked so bad. Looked much better when they went to the 4-4-2 in the second half and he had some help from Gomez/Davis/Shea.

Maurice Edu was horrible. The substitutions were a bit baffling considering his play, Dempsey's no-show and Beasley getting beat up and on a yellow for 80 minutes. And while I wouldn't call any of the starting 11 slow, collectively that might have been the least mobile squad I've seen in a long time.

But a point is a point. The back four was strong other than when Beasley was on an island. That was the real question mark going into the match.

If Bradley ever gets injured or suspended, this squad is in real trouble.

I was surprised to see though, that he is very well liked and respected amongst liberal football writers; as they say that he has a fairly well thought-out and nuanced position regarding fascism and denounces racism. Obviously that salute is highly offensive though.

Perhaps its a cultural thing, but I am confused by the outrage and preemptive concern?

Hm. He explicitly stated that he is a fascist and that Mussolini is a "widely misunderstood" person and I do not know of any liberal or even moderate writers that respect or like him.

It's an equaliser. PSG swing in a free-kick from 40 yards out, Thiago Silva powers a wonderful header at goal. It pings back off the post and Ibramhimovic, a good yard and a half offside, is first to react and pokes home!

81 min: Barcelona just switched off a touch there, what with the chance from the corner and the clash of heads creating a collective mini head-frazzle. It was Villa who rather needlessly conceded the free-kick that led to the goal. They still have every right to feel aggrieved about the offside decision.

80 min GOAL!! PSG 1 Barcelona 1 (Ibrahimovic)
That's what good it is! Silva hits the post with an excellent header, Zlatan's quickest to the rebound but was clearly offside when Silva connected. I don't think he'll mind very much. PSG are back on non-away-goals terms.

Guess no one knows the rules.

Oooooh, I thought Ibra acored after the keeper made a save. My bad.

Just to save face, I'm going to state that the still in itself is pretty useless.

I'm disappointed that my boy Joaquin and Malaga were eliminated by Borussia Dortmund in controversial fashion

I think Dortmund's 3rd goal was offside, but Malaga's 2nd goal was definitely offside.
