So what defensemen should we be looking at?

Per the Edmonton Journal and Spectors hockey rumors..........
(Jim Matheson reports the Penguins seek a fourth-line rental center. He suggests Phoenix’s Boyd Gordon. St. Louis’ Scott Nichol or San Jose’s Michal Handzus as possibilities…)
I have always hoped we could pry Steve Ott from Buffalo. That my friends is the final piece of the puzzle. Just dreaming of course but anything goes this year. Also does anyone know why Big Mac is not playing anymore as I have not seen him listed in the lineup at WBS lately

Handzus would be a nice addition. Steve Ott is too expensive and he's a 3rd line center more than anything.

Ryan Clowe reported to be a healthy scratch tonite for the Sharks. Hmmmmmm, where could he be going?

Let the Flyers have Clowe. He can continue to not score in their lineup.

More interesting than where he goes, is what San Jose gets for a guy with 0 goals in 28 games?

I don't see much left for the Pens to do. I have heard rumors that they might want another defensemen. I understand they have injuries to Martin and Letang, but that just seems ridiculous to me that they would add more D. I don't really see much left in UFA D-men that could help (Kings just got Regher, Smid resigned) except maybe Hainsey.

I still wouldn't mind another gritty forward for the 4th line. Faceoff specialist has been mentioned. Boyd Gordon has been mentioned. I also like Jerred Smithson from FLA (PK, faceoffs, hits, blocks shots). Any others out there that would be good to help round out 4th line?

2 picks for Murray doesn't seem that bad now, huh?

I like JBo in all when he's not the #1, but that's a similar return to what they got for Iginla

Does this mean St. Louis is a lock to not make the playoffs now?

Agreed. He might figure it out on a better team in LA, but he's been downright horrible on the Sabres this year.

I think Regehr > Murray.

While that's true, Regehr's NMC limits his market value. For instance, if Iginla hits an "open market" we don't steal him for a first and a couple of C/B- prospects...

Regehr played his best hockey under Darryl Sutter, three guesses as to who is coaching in Los Angeles right now. It's a match made in heaven for both player and team, as the Kings don't have defensive guys Mitchell and Greene and the extra minutes are wearing down Scuderi noticeably...

Give me Boyd Gordon tomorrow Ray and I'd be happy.....being that Bylsma won't play Vitale come playoff time. Gordon can win those defensive zone draws that Sutter can't win on the right side, nor Adams, nor Malkin.

I'm really worried about our defensive zone faceoffs outside of Sid come playoff time. Gordon would help that area in a huge way.

Glass/Adams - Gordon - TK

Or however Bylsma sees fit....hopefully TK isn't centering the first line come playoff time! LOL

I'm pretty surprised nobody in our conference has made any significant moves as of yet... Most of the top chips have been scooped up by the west... And the pens of course :) very happy beowmeister landed in stlouis... Looks like the flyers couldn't stomach his $ hit... They'll have to give up Read and/or couterier to get a Ryan or impact player... Not sure who else is even available... Poor flyers lol
