Official Gameday Thread: Pens @ Canes 09/04/13

Postby Kaizer on Tue Apr 09, 2013 6:23 pm

did you guys know jordan staal has brothers? wow dude.

so theres these other guys right, they all get together and dress up in these weird thick shorts with their long johns hanging out the bottom, and they wear razor blades on their shoes. then they wait for it to get cold, except when it gets hot they have to go inside where it's somehow cold again, and slide around on their blade-shoes whacking each other with pieces of wood. sometimes, they'll like, throw a piece of hardened cow poop on the floor and smack that around too. they have two guys at each end of the room who passed out first the night before, so they have to take most of the poop shots in the face. and if they get scared and move out of the way, they get a point. whichever guy has the most points when happy hour starts, their friends have to pick up the tab for the other guy's friends.

Lets Go Poop Smacking Blade-Shoe Sliding Drinking Team From Pittsburgh!

Forgot mentions of sod farming and Jordan was Shero's first pick ever.

Canes announcers already hit #4 :)

Hate to beat a dead horse here, but sitting Despres again just doesn't make any sense to me at all. Your two best puck movers and skaters are out and you sit Despres, the next best one? The Pens basically have one dman, Niskanen, who can make an effective first pass out of the zone. You saw what a hard time the Pens had the other night against the Rangers with this D group getting out of their zone.

I don't get it.

Carolina might hit him hard, and Bylsma doesn't think he can take a hit without curling up into a ball.

That fight was for all the Steelers fans out there. Bill Cowher's son-in-law for those who aren't making the connection.

He fought Westgarth, Bill Cowher's son-in-law.

Westgarth must be ticked off that he got traded from the defending SC champs.

I have been a Despres supporter, but he hasn't played well over the last few games he's played. It seems the only player he plays well with is Letang-whatever the reason. I don't see a huge problem with him sitting when we need our defense to be reliable with Martin and Letang out.

Agreed, Bortuzzo couldn't buy a spot in the starting lineup for how long? Now when we need a puck mover more than ever, we scratch Despres and Bortuzzo gets in?

 He was playing like the rookie he is. The team won without him. He deserves to sit right now. With the injuries the Pens have giving Despres an increased role was actually hurting him.

Bortuzzo actually played really well the last few games. Engellend though is a waste.

The D the Pens have in there right now simply cannot move the puck or skate it out of trouble, that's what Despres can bring.

And at no point this season has Despres been as bad as Engelland has all year.
