this game was always going to be a barn-burner... Pens are rittled with injuries and Geno is trying to get back on his game, along with several new players looking to find their stride.. also you have a PO'ed Carolina team that is looking to gain some respect for themselves

Benefits of the game being blacked out on Game Center and listening on my phone:

Trash and recyclables taken to the curb
A hearty, homemade marinara on the stove
Dog walked
Started some laundry

Negatives:

Not being able to see the game

It is just painfully obvious that without Martin and Letang, this team goes from incredible to just another team in the East. I hope to god that Martin is healthy and Letang stays healthy for the rest of the year because without those two, this team isn't winning a cup.

Sorry but the breakout is just absolute mud. If the Pens gain possession of the puck in the neutral zone, they are fine. But if you start forechecking the Pens, they simply have no answer for it because they simply aren't skilled enough in their own end right now to get solid possession and then transition the puck up the ice for any sort of offense.

Brooks Orpik looks lost without Martin on his right side... And Niskanen gets exposed with too many minutes. Eaton however has been really good. He just isn't a puck mover though...

He actually didn't look bad, and I've seen several Rangers fans even say as much. But yeah, I guess going 9-1-0 with a 2.13 GAA and .926 sv% in his last 12 games is "up and down".

First period of a road game and we're missing our top 2 D and two in the top 6. Settle down.

Which is why I said we need to go into the playoffs healthy.

You should learn to read.

I stated since Sid went out. He had a sub .850 save % against the Rangers and didn't look sharp at all. Then he bounced back and looked great. Tonight he hasn't been tested a lot, so I'll reserve judgement, although he's on pace to allow 6 goals.

Yeah, but as crazy as it sounds, the two missing defenseman are having the same if not more of an impact on this team.

Eh. I think the ripple effect Crosby's absence has on our forward lines is probably greater than the stability Martin brings...maybe not them both together I guess, but close.

Nobody blamed him at all. I stated we lacked structure and are losing battles, and not playing well since Sid went out. That goes from the forwards all the way back to the goaltender.
