It is portable because you can put it in almost any window. I get your point, though. Most come with little itty bitty wheels that, because of the weight on them either break - or will only roll on hardwood floors or something.
I got one last year and it does help a lot. Make sure you know what to do when you put it away for the year. You usually have to empty any water/dry it all out and what not...or you will get rust city.
Good advice. I hooked it up to constantly drain into a bucket next to it because the reviews I read said the internal container will fill in about an hour and is a pain to drain. Having an 80lb. hunk of metal is way better than the alternative of sitting in the heat of Summer.
