Looks like I'll need a SS with Reyes going down. Anyone willing to make a trade? Ike Davis is available.

I noticed that Yahoo! added an option for commissioners to add an "NA" roster spot last week. Since it was added after the season began, leagues can make this addition even though the season has begun.

Do we have any interest in adding this? I have an NA player right now, and I know several other teams have had them in years past. If we were to do it, I think the player's contract would have to still hit the cap. We could treat it just like a DL spot, I guess -- contract hits cap, can call up a farm player or sign an MLB fill in player.

Thoughts?

I have no problem with adding it.

So if you have a farm player listed as N/A by Yahoo you could place him on your Yahoo roster but you'd have to sign him to a contract? Not sure I see the point of that.

so we would have 5 DL spots now? would we have 4 DL + 1 NA or 5 + 1?

Yeah, I was curious about what people would want to do with this. I would see it as being in addition to the DL, I guess.

Yeah, Dan Straily for me right now. Although he should be up for Jarrod Parker soon, I would think.

I actually think it might be a pretty common occurrence as more and more farm players start expiring in future years. The decision to sign a guy has to come pretty early, and it would not be at all unthinkable that you might have to make your decision to sign a promising guy but he ends up having a stint in the minors at some point before seeing full playing time.

I'm also fine with us adding the "NA" spot. Kraftster makes a good point regarding signing farm players.

I'm probably just being dense but what is the advantage if he is already technically on your roster? He can be added to the starting lineup quicker by already being on the Yahoo roster?

I was actually going to suggest adding more DL spots, I got to 5 within 2 weeks of the start of the season. I thought the idea was that we would have unlimited DL spots.

It frees up a roster spot to be used on an active player. Right now Dan Straily is taking up a bench spot and not playing.

Yeah, this could easily benefit me with Chapman. He's on a 5 year deal for me, but if they even move him to the rotation, he's going to probably see time in AAA. I was expecting it this season.

I would rather not have an NA spot, but if everyone else does I can live with it... as long as the cap hit still counts

I would think also you should have to sign the replacement for your NA guy to a 1-year deal and use a buyout when your NA guy returns (on anyone - doesn't have to be the replacement)

I'll echo both of Mr. Colby's posts, I'd prefer not too have it or at least if we do make the decision it should start next year not now.

What would be the reason for not having an NA spot? I can be swayed either way.

I'm curious as well. I'm guessing the thinking is that you shouldn't get a "free pass" when one of your players is sent down.
