AO is not likely to tie Sid in points. If that's the case and Sid does not come back until the playoffs, then sports writers have to decide if they want to vote for Alex even though he has fewer points than Sid with a dozen more games under his belt. Most likely Ovechkin ends the season 4th or 5th in scoring. Hart goes to the 4th or 5th scorer?

Did Alex help his bubble team into the playoffs? Absolutely. Did Alex help his team BECOME a bubble team? Without a doubt.

Sid helped his team clinch an early playoff spot.

Not to mention, if Alex gets the Hart, he would be the first hart winner in history(or at least last 50 years) with such a low amount of assists relative to the rest of the league. Alex has two teammates with 40+ points. No other team can say that.

It would take quite a huge point streak by Ovechkin for him to get it. I imagine it's more likely between Sid and Bobrovsky.

I'd give it to Anderson even over Crosby. The award should go to most valuable to his team. There are so many good players on this team it's hard to pick whop is the MOST valuable. The only reason the Sens are in the playoff piscture at all is because of him especially after Karlson went down.

Giving it to Ovechkin would be a **** joke. He played **** hockey until April and giving it to him would be an embarrassment.

I really think voters don't go by the criteria provided to them.

Hart trophy
"Player judged most valuable to his team"

Lindsay trophy
"Most outstanding player in the regular season."

Best on those criteria the Hart should go to Ovy and the Lindsay to Crosby.

Based on how voters really vote historically, the Hart should go to Crosby

If it goes to a goalie, it sure as hell won't be Anderson but Bobrovsky that will get the love. Anderson has been great this year, but he did miss half the season himself.

In the purest sense of the language, Kovalchuk should win the Hart.

I think based on those criteria the Hart should always go to a goalie. Bobrovsky is statistically more important than any skater. The top several most valuable players are all goalies.

AO stepped up scoring, brought his team back from missing the playoffs, and now they lead their division. Makes a pretty good case.

but the BJ's are out of the playoff picture (barely) right now and they have the 9th most goals against in the West. Is he really that important? He makes a horrible team average? I don't think so.

The Devils do suck, but they cannot win without Kovalchuk. They won without Brodeur - only two games, if I remember correctly.

I don't understand why AO sucking for half the season should be less of a consideration than Crosby missing 1/4 due to injury.

So we ignore his suck play the first half of the season because he's a slug? It's one thing to come back from an injury and then dominate. But when a player is on your bench contributing nothing and then decides to play how can you say he's an MVP of any team?

That stat doesn't make sense when you look at Bob's stats and see he's 2nd in SV% and 6th in the league in GAA

Goaltenders have their own award. Bob would have to dominate ala Hasek to get the Hart.

I can see why some would vote for AO. Guy has been on an absolute tear recently and has been the main reason the Caps have come back from the dead. I still think Crosby should win, but I don't think it's a runaway like most think. Like others have mentioned...Bob out in C-bus should get some mention too.

I was looking at it, Bob has given up 65 while Mason has given up 35. They each have 3 empty netters against them. That's 106 goals. I guess the other 4 goals against are shootout goals.

I think anyone predicting anyone besides Crosby is over thinking it. He's by far the most popular figure in the sport for a variety of reasons. There are other players who should be in the discussion though.

I don't think so. I think writers will punish Crosby for getting injured, and reward AO for being hot at the end of the season when his tear is fresh in everyones minds.
