Did my hard drive crash?

Postby DudeMan2766 on Fri Apr 19, 2013 7:42 pm

Another computer thread. My work computer was giving me fits all day, just a little while ago it scanned for a threat, restarted and now won't reboot. I'm getting the error: No bootable partition found. I'm finding both simple fixes, that aren't working, to Oh **** your hard drive is done. It's my work comp so if that happened I am screwed. Anyone have any ideas? I'd really like to fix it so I don't have to drive it up to the office next week. I'm freaking right now. It's a Dell by the way

I dont know how strict your company is, but I am really not allowed to do anything with my company asset. I can call tech support we have on staff and troubleshoot and then they tell me to bring it in if needed.

Just an FYI in case you try to fix it and then get fired

agreed... don't F with it.

A good tech support crew can boot it from another device and possibly recover the data. If you mess with it you may make it worse.

One of my favorites... a former co-worker took the HD out of his govt. issued laptop and replaced it with his own running Linux. He wasn't let go for that specifically, but when the time came for cuts, you know who was first in line.

and yeah, I think you have to bite the bullet and take it to your company IT staff.
