Sit everyone against Ottawa?

Postby DocEmrick on Sat Apr 20, 2013 10:26 pm

From the sounds of the entire Ottawa organ-eye-zation, it looks like we should literally roster nobody's that game.

I am inclined to agree. I'm extremely nervous, even with Mac in the lineup, as to what they might try to do in this game. I am totally fine with benching our stars, our role players can certainly compete for a win anyway.

Ottawa is gonna have to play a fairly non goonish game I would assume. They lost tonight, they need to win to keep their playoff chances in good standing. They can't just treat this game like a good squad or they are gonna take themselves right out of the playoff picture.

I agree with skullman. Ottawa will be focusing on winning the game. There will probably be a scrum with Cooke at the beginning of the game. But not much else.

I expect the Pens dress Smacker Glass Engel Bortuzzo and Crankshaft.

You figure Iginla Morrow Adams and Kuni will be in the lineup.

Unless the Pens can get Big Brent Johnson in the cage I think they have everything covered in regards to toughness

Was thinking about this today as Vokoun was stellar in net. What if they go after Fleury? Or would Blysma start Vokoun back to back games and Fleury against Buffalo?

You guys are acting like this will be Pens vs Isles round 2.

Cooke will fight in the first 5 minutes vs the player of Ottawas choosing then the game will go on. At least i hope.

These are hockey players, not figure skaters. Cookie has to fight. Beyond that, keep your head on a swivel and protect yourself. I would hope RS has been hammering the league offices about this, telling them he doesn't want what happened in the Islanders game. The league doesn't want that either, so again I would hope they sent a message to the Sens that thuggery will not be tolerated. The Senators don't need 4 guys suspended on the eve of the playoffs.

He said 3 out of the last 5. I'm pretty sure that they'll play Vokoun-Fleury on Mon-Tues

Should probably call up Tim McCracken, Gilmore Tuttle, Andre Lussier, and Clarence Swamptown too.

There will be a meaningless fight and that's that. The rest of the game will be a bunch of soft euros skating around in circles.

Cooke will fight again, and there may be some other fights. The only way it gets out of hand is if Cooke wins a fight early against someone he shouldn't. The Islanders scenario isn't the norm, usually you get a few fights out of hte way early and then play hockey, not skate around for 60 minutes looking for cheap shots.

I have a feeling there will be warnings issued before the game to both sides from the league and the Refs will be told to have about 0 tolerance for after whistle nonsense.

Pens aren't interested in risking injury and Ottawa better be concerned with staying in the playoffs.

Right, but my concern was Fleury playing against Ottawa which is Monday, hence Vokoun would play back to back games and Fleury the remaining 3 games but I don't envision Blysma doing this. Just hope Fleury doesn't play vs Ottawa.

cooke does not have to fight, and most likely he will not fight. He never seems to fight (which i am ok with). But it is not like it is a given that he needs to fight. This was an accident. Tyler Myers broke Malkins leg taking him into the boards on a hit, and was never asked to fight. If ottawa comes out looking to goon it up, then they are going to find themselves in a real difficult sitation trying to make the playoffs. They need this game real bad.

Yeah, why should Cooke "have" to fight for a completely incidental play?

Melnyk is seriously unhinged, and it's a shame the league did not publicly call him out. Seriously, does anyone in the PGH organIzation behave this way?
